We rent an apartment in a neighboring building and picked up four piadinas to take away for a light lunch. The service was friendly, and even without speaking English, we understood each other when ordering. The piadinas were truly delicious and generously filled. The restaurant is quite small. If you order takeout, everything is very well packaged to keep it warm. You can even find a bench by the lake to enjoy your meal. I highly recommend it.

The place is small and cozy, you are served immediately and the owner is a super petalous and ultra-kind potato so in addition to the bonus of good food, your taste buds will also have the pleasure of appreciating treatment that he gives you like your mother!

La Caveja is a little gem in Como. The lady serving doesn’t speak any English at all, but honestly that wasn’t a problem – she was friendly, smiling and genuinely eager to help. With a bit of patience and a few gestures, you can always find a way to communicate, and it actually adds to the charm of the experience. Most importantly, the piadina she prepared was absolutely fantastic – one of the best I’ve ever had. It did take a little while to be made, but the freshness and flavour made it more than worth the wait. A truly authentic Italian bite that feels homemade with care. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy real piadina in Como – simple, authentic and delicious.

02/01/2026: They make excellent pepperoni steak. I recommend it with red wine.
26/12/2025: The service and the view from our table was amazing. Though we sat out on a cold day, the restaurant had heaters setup outside for comfort. This didn’t really do much and we were still pretty cold. The restaurant also weren’t sitting anyone inside for some reason. We sat with direct view of the Lake. But unfortunately the food wasn’t the best. Everything tasted kind of bland. We got the bruschetta, buffalo cheese pizza and grilled chicken. Wouldn’t recommend any of it tbh. What I did like was their frite fries, roasted potatoes and their selection of wine. Also it seemed like the waiters were in cahoots with the local street sellers. Often you’d see people selling flowers walking between the tables, though this might not necessarily be a bad thing for some. Wouldn’t go there again unless it’s to just drink wine while staring out into the Lake (preferably in the summer).

01/01/2026: We went for New Year's Eve dinner. There were some complications due to the large influx of people, but it was totally understandable. The meat was of the highest quality and perfectly cooked. Despite some inconveniences during the evening, the manager handled the situation very well. Happy New Year!
