24/06/2025: Great cuisine, the pizzas are a delight

No sea, no sun, no vitamin D, nothing.
So what do we do?
The answer is obvious by now.. Let's go out for dinner!
Seeing the rain hitting the car window has a different effect, and it is even more so when you see it from the windows of a restaurant when all the umbrellas are running to go home and you are there enjoying a hot meal and seeing what Nature is capable of doing.
For this evening we chose to have dinner at Cuccagna, we went with our family and so we were able to taste many things.
As soon as we enter we find ourselves in a familiar environment, a little chaotic, but with kind and cheerful staff, we are then made to sit in the room where the pizzas are baked and the smell was truly inebriating.
The name “Cuccagna” comes from the name of a festival, more precisely the “festival of the cuccagna tree” that takes place in Cesenatico every year between the end of July and the beginning of August.
The cuccagna consists of a competition in which participants challenge each other to climb a lubricated pole, often decorated with prizes or food, to reach the top. The family members of the restaurant owners, being very good and having won this challenge several times over the years, decided to call the restaurant by this name.
We had: 😋
Appetizers:
• Sautéed clams: good and tasty, even if it is simple, it is a dish that always makes you want to eat. The bread used for the crunchy and crunchy croutons is excellent.
• Mixed cold appetizer: a little disappointing, we had high expectations but the flavors were very faded and the dish did not give that feeling of joy and color when you see it.
First courses:
• Tagliatelle with ragù: rough, thick, delicious tagliatelle. The meat in the ragù was good but the tomato was a little too sweet for our tastes.
• Gnocchi alla pescatora: good, full of fish, colorful and tasty. It had been a long time since we had the chance to eat gnocchi, it gave us a twist to the usual rigmarole.
Second course:
• Fried food: a little too light, it didn't have that golden and crunchy color that makes you want to eat it. It's a shame because the fish and vegetables themselves were good but the breading ruined the dish. Also watch out for the salt, there were areas without salt and others that were very full.
Pizzas: 🍕
• Pizza of the day: I think it's one of the most beautiful inventions in the world, every day you arrive and there's a different pizza. Today it didn't go well for us.. It went very well, today's creation included gratinated calamari, tomatoes and basil pesto on a white base.
A delight. The breading that wrapped the cherry tomatoes and the squid that during the baking in the oven became an integral part of the mozzarella with that acidic note of the pesto created a perfect combination. Wow.
•"Pizza 300gr alta" - Pizzesca: variant of the "Pizzesca" pizza with half an extra dough to make it taller and softer.
Buffalo mozzarella, spicy salami and porcini mushrooms. Good, spicy, excellent combinations and a dough that was perfect for the arrogance of this pizza.
In conclusion we can say that we spent an evening full of fun, happiness and overall good food. The waiters were always helpful and kind and even offered us bitters at the end of the meal.
A very fitting name for a restaurant that manages to give happiness and serenity.
