Non era nei miei piani entrare dentro al mercato coperto del centro di Firenze, ma consigliato da un amico del luogo mi sono messo alla ricerca di Sugarello e ne sono rimasto positivamente sorpreso: ambiente molto cordiale, piatti semplici ma ben eseguiti sul momento (inoltre con la piccola cucina a vista non possono esserci inganni) ed un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Affianco a me c'era una coppia di fiorentini che mi ha detto di andarci spesso e di non rimanere mai delusi. Consigliato!
This was an excellent find while browsing all the vendor stalls inside the market. When we walked by, we talked to a couple just finishing up who shared how fantastic the food was here.
Sugarello is located on the lower level with all the fruit and veggies, seafood and meat vendors.
We continued to check out all the food stalls on the 2nd level, but I was set on trying the fresh seafood cooked-to-order at Sugarello.
We ordered one of the specials - Calamari ala Griglia which was sooo good. Perfectly grilled so it was really tender (not chewy) and seasoned just the way it needed to be. The grilled veggies that came with it and the toasted bread were perfect accompaniments. I actually made a crostini out of it.
The other dish was Couscous & Frutti de Mare which was really tasty and a generous portion.
I asked the owner what his favorite dish is - he replied with their most popular Frittura Misto.
If you’re craving for seafood, I honestly think this is a better option than most sit down restaurants.
Highly recommended and we’re definitely coming back for lunch today.
