Pausa Caffè In Alghero

My wife and I noticed this cafe on our travels during our 10-day stay in Alghero and we were keen to try it for lunch. I'm pretty sure they only serve breakfast and lunch and NOT dinner but, no doubt the business owner can correct me, if that's wrong. We called in at about 1.50pm on Sunday 1 September 2024 (they close at 3pm on Sundays, we believe). What a lovely surprise it was and just as good as we hoped it would be. We ordered Formaggio Arrosto to share as a starter. After that we chose Gnocchetti Alla Campidanese and a Bomba Salad for our main courses. These were served with 5 (yes, 5!) bread rolls. The portions were very generous and the quality of the starter, main courses and even the bread rolls was outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. We sat and enjoyed the very Italian atmosphere of male customers and female staff talking in that loud, expressive, Italian way. All accompanied by music from the tv. The ladies who served us were really friendly and professional and the cafe style is modern, clean and fun. All in all a memorable experience for us. We won't go back but only because we'll probably never be back in Alghero. But anyone reading this and thinking of lunch really should try Pausa Caffe. I can't vouch for the breakfasts, because we only had lunch but the food, service and atmosphere were all first class. Update of Wednesday 4 September 2024 - We enjoyed our first meal here so much that we chose the Pausa Caffe for our final meal in Alghero, before flying home, as we enjoyed eating here more than anywhere else we'd tried. On this second occasion we ordered two salads, a Caesar and a Salmon and both were superb, again served with bread rolls. We had to wait until 12.30pm, as they don't serve lunch until then so we just sat and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere again. Perfect! Lots of locals, obviously well-known to the staff made for a lovely friendly experience. A wonderful, final memory of Alghero. We would definitely recommend.

Delicious (very big) English breakfast. Even for two there is enough to eat. Delicious coffee and chocolate/pistachio croissants. Very nice and helpful staff ☀️

Not only a coffee break, but also a great choice for lunch break! I often stop here during my lunch break from work, and I'm always very satisfied. The products are of high quality and the prices are honest. I highly recommend trying the appetizers and the tagliatelle, which are truly delicious! Staff very kind and always available Super recommended!

A couple of days in Alghero and it immediately became a point of reference. Breakfast, lunch break, aperitif. Nice and tidy place and super friendly staff😊😊 We also salute "maistru Davide" and Federica who gave us advice 🔝

Very clean environment and excellent value for money, both for breakfast and lunch. Very abundant and tasty dishes, wide choice of first courses, second courses, salads and burgers with chips. A dish that I highly recommend is the gnocchi with wild boar ragout and saffron!!

Best place to have a coffee in Alghero that we found - they have soy milk/oat milk available for those of us who are vegan and lactose intolerant, vegan croissants, and a delicious flakey croissant you can ask to fill up with either pistachio or Nutella (go pistachio!). The cappuccino is decent, one of the better ones we found on the island 🏝️

Amazing english breakfast and tasty coffee too, guys are so kind and happy to help. I went there everyday during my holidays for both aperitive and breakfast. Highly raccomended.

the best croissant i ever had! the skin is crispy but inside is nice chewy texture. with pistachio sauce is also a good choice. The pistachio croissant is delicious! Crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside, a texture I’ve never tasted before. I don’t know where else there is such a croissant.

Deciso al volo di provare a smaltire la "ruggine" della chiusura dovuta al restyling, risultato manco mezza delusione:) :) Cortesia pulizia e sorrisi ...sono il tris perfetto per proseguire la giornata. Picanha tenera e ottima!!!
