Pasticceria Vernuccio Di Vernuccio Pamela & C. Sas In Ragusa

We based ourselves in Ragusa for a family vacation in the Val di Noto. While looking for a traditional pastry shop, we accidentally stumbled upon Vernuccio's. In the doorway, a "boy" was sitting on a chair strumming his guitar. When he introduced himself as the owner, we were a bit taken aback, as he seemed more like a bohemian tourist (in the most positive sense of the word) than a local pastry chef. Extremely kind and friendly, in that unintrusive Sicilian way typical of us, he prepared three exceptional cannoli for us, both for their incredibly thin, crispy shell and the high-quality ricotta. We also had a lovely chat, ranging from desserts to contemporary Sicilian society, with its pros and cons. A truly enjoyable part of a day spent. If I ever return to beautiful Ragusa, I will definitely visit Vernuccio's to try other specialties.

Had a Canollo, Testa di Turco and an almond pastry - all great. Maybe the best Canolli I've ever head. Very friendly staff, prices cheaper than in more touristic places Google recommends (Canolli - 2.5€ vs 3.5 in Café Italia). Was open at 8:30 am on Sunday.

Family own business for 60 years. Friendly staff. Really good cookies. Genuine Ragusanian baking culture! If u give the staff a smile, maybe they share something fresh and warm from the bakerst in the back.
