I am from Taranto and I lived, for work, from 1982 to 1984 in Sorrento. I happened to frequent the best pastry shops in Campania in those years. Well, the production of this "Tarantina" Neapolitan Pastry Shop is absolutely up to the best. Compliments to all those who work there for their professionalism and kindness. In particular Davide who, despite the numerous customers, always remembers my tastes perfectly.

I had the pleasure of visiting this place in the early morning and, despite the hectic holiday period and certainly a busy time, I was welcomed by Mr. Ferrero and his staff with a friendliness and kindness that smacked of Neapolitan as much as the interior of the pastry shop itself, embellished with delicious tiles and majolica-effect decorations. And if we talk about delicious, it is difficult not to immediately shift the focus to the confectionery offering: there is little to say, everything displayed on the various counters is the result of the skilful production that only an expert craftsman can give to his customers. I chose to opt for a tasting of typical Neapolitan products, also on the advice of the master pastry chef himself, and therefore tasted a slice of pastiera, a smooth babà, a puff pastry and a riccia accompanied by a good, indeed, excellent coffee. Incredible puff pastries, having been able to enjoy them warm gave further added value to the experience! Baba with the right amount of syrup and a hint of rum, pastiera (one of my favorite desserts) perhaps among the best I've ever eaten. A dutiful note of merit regarding the prices of the products on sale: although the tasting was kindly offered to me, each proposal - from the pastries to the single-portion semifreddos, up to the cakes - has a cost that is more than adequate for the quality offered. I also sincerely thank Mr. Ferrero for the precious minutes of conversation he kindly granted me, aimed at better understanding the history of the business and the thought behind his work. His pastry shop is a small pearl in the gastronomic panorama of the city and not only that, I can't wait to return to taste more of his creations!

Ho avuto il piacere di visitare questo locale in prima mattinata e, nonostante il periodo festivo frenetico ed un orario certamente di punta, sono stato accolto dal signor Ferrero ed il suo staff con una cordialità e gentilezza che sapeva di partenopeo tanto quanto gli interni della stessa pasticceria, abbelliti da deliziose piastrelle e decorazioni in effetto maioliche. E se si parla di delizioso, è difficile non spostare subito il focus sulla proposta dolciaria: c'è poco da dire, tutto ciò che è esposto nei vari banconi è frutto della sapiente produzione che solo un artigiano esperto può regalare ai suoi clienti. Ho scelto di optare per una degustazione di prodotti tipici napoletani, anche su consiglio dello stesso maestro pasticcere, e assaggiato quindi una fetta di pastiera, un babà liscio, una sfogliatella frolla e una riccia accompagnati da un buon, anzi, ottimo caffè. Sfogliatelle incredibili, averle potute gustare tiepide ha dato un ulteriore valore aggiunto all'esperienza! Babà con giusta quantità di bagna e sentore di rum, pastiera (uno dei miei dolci preferiti) forse tra le più buone che abbia mai mangiato. Doverosa nota di merito riguardo i prezzi dei prodotti in vendita: nonostante la degustazione mi sia stata gentilmente offerta, ogni proposta - dagli sfogliati ai semifreddi monoporzione, fino alle torte presenta un costo più che congruo alla qualità offerta. Ringrazio sentitamente il signor Ferrero anche per i preziosi minuti di conversazione che mi ha gentilmente concesso, volti a comprendere meglio la storia dell'attività ed il pensiero che sta alla base del suo lavoro. La sua pasticceria è una piccola perla nel panorama gastronomico della città e non solo, non vedo l'ora di tornare ad assaporare altre sue creazioni!

Ho acquistato i dolcetti della domenica e nello specifico 1 sfogliatella frolla grande, 2 sfogliatelle riccie piccole, 2 bignè al cioccolato e 1 alla crema; tutto ottimo come sempre, gentilissimo il personale al banco ed il titolare alla cassa. Costo €6,20
