Pasticceria Caffé Pirona In Trieste

A small pastry shop with a small but interesting selection of exquisite desserts. They serve coffee, but there are only a couple of tables on a fairly busy thoroughfare.

The beauty of the place alone is worth a visit, but the quality of the pastries and coffee are superb. You can tell the ingredients used are top-quality: if there's a slight price difference compared to other pastry shops or cafes, it's completely justified. The mignon pastries are little masterpieces, the croissants are truly croissants (you can taste the butter), and the putizza is insane. It's always a pleasure to chat with Gianluca, the owner, a cultured guy passionate about his work. We'll definitely be back.

We spent four days in Trieste and were fortunate enough to have colazione three times. The reason we came here in the first place was for a "capo in b" and there was no disappointment. The espresso was exactly where it needs to be for cafe like this. The interior decor is warm, classic, and inviting. Elegant but not pretentious. When you arrive, you'll find yourself in a small space with no seating inside like a typical Italian cafe. If you want to sit, order a coffee, cake or pastry on a silver platter in true Trieste style and sit outside. If you just want coffee, stand like a normal Italian. The real draw to this place is the guys behind the bar. Friendly, inviting, engaging and hospitable. True Italian gentleman welcoming foreigners who are prepared to use the language the best he can and try to make friends. If you want to get the feels while in Trieste, come here
