As always, this is a lovely place for a cocktail, in a most serene and beautiful courtyard. The staff are always friendly and the service is courteous and quick.

We went early evening which seemed to shock the staff as it is common to eat late in the evening. But they made no fuss, set our table, seated us and served us with no long waits and incredible service. The food was some of the best we have ever eaten. The dark breaded scallops are the best scallops I've ever tasted! The carbornara, ditto! The setting is stunning and because it was early, we had the place to ourselves. Pianist started as we were leaving which created a lovely atmosphere.

The place has been around since 1923, and of course it has been renovated...but it is affectionate, sophisticated, classic, and an icon in Rome. It is called “The Stairway to Paradise”.. In the restaurant the weather was cold so we had lunch indoors.. Alessandro is a lovely host and has great recommendations.
