The heart of Verona, to be enjoyed together with Berto Barbarani when everyone has gone... "Voria cantar Verona a na serta ora, de note...", when the tourists have gone to rest and only a few Veronese late-nighters wander around the square. A tribute to the most famous dialect poet of Verona, in love with his city.

It is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. Two thousand year old history, art, frescoes, bars and meeting places for all ages where you can spend pleasant evenings.

Piazza delle Erbe is the oldest and most lively square in Verona, a colorful and lively space surrounded by historic buildings with frescoes and Renaissance architecture. In the center of the square is the Fountain of the Madonna of Verona, with its symbolic statue, and the Tribuna Pòdesa, where public announcements were made in the past. Among the notable sights are the Lamberti Tower, the Casa dei Mercanti and the Mazzanti Palace. The atmosphere is complemented by stalls with local products, tourists, cafes and the historical charm of a lively and authentic Verona.

One of Verona's most characteristic squares.
I was struck by the fact that, despite the crowds of tourists, there was a peaceful, pleasant atmosphere. You can walk, stop, and look around without rushing.
It's a square to be enjoyed slowly, even if only for a few minutes. Perhaps sitting with a coffee (as I did), simply admiring the beauty all around.

A Brief Guide to Piazza delle Erbe
1. Historical Background
• The oldest square in Verona, its layout derives directly from the Roman forum—the city's main political, commercial, and religious center.
• In the Middle Ages, it served as the city's assembly point, seat of government and law courts. During the reign of the Scaliger dynasty and the Venetian Republic, it was a vibrant artistic and commercial center.

A beautiful square that's a must-visit, and if you believe in superstitions, you can walk under the hanging horn for good luck. It has a market and is surrounded by medieval palaces.
It was once the nerve center of commerce.

A very pleasant square in the heart of Verona. Terraces border the square, and in the center are stalls selling souvenirs.
