Osteria Sciapò In Palermo

By far the best Osteria experience I had in Palermo. Unpretentious and uncomplicated traditional Sicilian food at its best. Portions were big and tasty. Great value for the money you pay. It's neat and clean and the music also was at a sensible level (Smooth vocal Jazz, to whom it may concern). Perfect for a walk in as well, as they have plenty of space (inside) and a few tables outside. Staff was friendly and helpful even though our Italian was basically non-existant. Housewine was absolutely drinkable and you can order in carafes, as well. We had the Caponata and Pasta Anciova as well as a simple but traditional aglio olio (correct name I forgot, scusi, but with freshly chopped parsley and chili added, basically). Wonderful last dinner for me and my wife. Wished we had gone there earlier already. Grazie, Sciapò!

The Seppia spaghetti was really delicious.

The octopus entree was delicious, as were the fried dishes. The swordfish rolls are a must-try.

We waited 15 minutes before being seated. After being seated, we waited another 20 minutes for our orders, and another 10-15 minutes for our drinks. The lukewarm white wine arrived with two warm glasses, fresh from the dishwasher. After reporting it, they told us they could just put the wine in the freezer for a few minutes to cool it down. We still hadn't received the water: AN HOUR had already passed. The appetizer was excellent (octopus and fried Sicilian crostini). The wait was minimal for the main courses, but they didn't meet our expectations. The portion of fish balls in sauce was minimal, and the mixed grill of fish was not cooked to perfection. Luckily, they offered a small €3.50 discount at the register, but unfortunately, we won't be returning... a shame, because they had potential.

Abbiamo cenato un sera e siamo rimasti davvero soddisfatti, sia per i piatti che per il conto. I piatti sono tipici siciliani, ben preparati e gustosi Ma soprattutto non si sono montati la testa, come molti altri locali in zona che applicano prezzi spropositati ed ingiustificati. Siamo rimasti talmente contenti, che la sera dopo siamo tornati ed abbiamo preso il loro menù di mare, sfiziozo, gustoso e tutto a 28 euro... stra consigliato
