I asked the artificial intelligence: "Find me a restaurant near Sarnano that's good and affordable." Gemini pointed me to Osteria Scherzi a Parte, and I must say it was spot on. Mr. Gabriele greeted us jokingly and surprised me not only with his friendliness and professionalism but also with his fluent English, considering my Thai wife doesn't speak Italian yet, but she speaks English well. We chose gnocchi with sausage and mushrooms and lamb chops with a side salad and red wine. Free still water; being in the mountains, it's better than bottled mineral water. Bread and cover charge are €1.

Today for lunch I went to Osteria Scherzi a Parte, above Sarnano on the road to Sassetto. I'd already heard great things about this place, and I have to say it fully lived up to my expectations. The first courses were truly intriguing: we chose mushroom tortellini, without cream but with quality olive oil, and a special layered polenta, like oven-baked lasagna, stuffed with sausage and meat, crispy and truly delicious. For the second course, we had pork morsels with apples and chestnuts, perfectly cooked and with well-balanced flavors. Excellent cuisine, a welcoming atmosphere, and a truly positive experience. I'll definitely be back.”

After a light breakfast, we set off to explore the waterfalls around Sarnano. The route was beautiful, but unexpectedly longer and sometimes more difficult than we had anticipated. Fortunately, we eventually arrived at the Osteria, which was like an oasis in the desert. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and were able to join the queue at 2:15 p.m. We had a delicious lunch, choosing only the pasta, all freshly made by the owner's wife. The portions were so large and tasty that we couldn't manage another dish. In hindsight, we should have shared a pasta and then ordered grilled meat. We'll keep that in mind because we'll definitely be back! After delicious cappuccinos and our water bottles refilled by the owner, we were given directions for the rest of the route and set off again with big smiles on our faces. Thank you, it was wonderful!!

Discovered by chance. In the summer and when it's warm, you can eat outside. It's that kind of restaurant where you leave satisfied with what you've eaten and also satisfied with the bill. Cover charge is €2 and they even provide a tablecloth. Water is free. First courses are €10, good and plentiful. Second courses are €12. Recommended, and reservations are recommended.

Beautiful dinner with exceptional food and service!! 100% recommended We were in the area for the weekend and were amazed by the quality of the food (excellent grilled meat and top-notch pasta) and the kindness and professionalism of the staff. Plus, the restaurant is meticulously maintained down to the smallest detail. I'll definitely be back!!

La Taverna dell'Artista

24/02/2026: "The Artist's Tavern is a treasure chest hiding enchanting treasures." In the center of Montelupone, a village that perfectly preserves its medieval origins and is meticulously cared for by its residents, there is a restaurant (also a B&B, Escape Room, and gourmet shop) run by Leonardo, a host and multifaceted artist of exceptional creativity mixed with pragmatism. Specializing in risottos, we tried three types: beetroot and Taleggio DOP; saffron, cod, and chives; and black truffle and porcini mushrooms. All truly excellent!!! We were also impressed by the appetizer, a generous selection of local cured meats and typical fried foods from the Marche region. We were hosted in a splendid frescoed room, but each room holds surprises that evoke the ancient history of those who inhabited those spaces. The menu is extensive, and we will definitely return to try new dishes, preceded by a game session with a mysterious backstory in the Escape Room. Last but not least, a word of praise goes to the kind and professional staff.
24/02/2026: Highly recommended! A place you absolutely must try and enjoy; we ate wonderfully and introduced our guests to the best of Marche cuisine. Plus, the risottos are fantastic and unique! The owner, Leonardo, is a veritable whirlwind of ideas and suggestions: we'll be back to try the escape room.

18/02/2026: Life's too short to eat and drink badly... This is a place worth living in! Exquisite dishes (the onion in the onion is sublime), delicate and delicious. Excellent wines, a beautiful location, and super friendly and helpful staff... When passion meets expertise... What can I say... it's a shame I live so far away... Highly recommended!!!
