I've been coming to this Osteria since I was little, and the quality of the food has always been high. In my opinion, the best gnocchi in the Trieste area!!

A wonderful experience, a historic restaurant, with traditional Karst dishes, beautifully presented, and all very good. Arugula crepes, spinach rolls, gnocchi with goulash, expertly prepared fried chicken, Angus steak, generous portions, and finally, excellent desserts: strudel in straza and Karst cream. Service was quick, considering the lady serving was alone—kudos to her.

I have been coming to eat at this restaurant for 50 years, my parents used to take me there when I was little. The food is divine, for me it is the best restaurant in Trieste.

A fantastic place. We'd been waiting to eat here, and it was worth it. It's worth booking in advance. Delicious food and wonderful service. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back.

Caffe’ Antico Ponterosso

13/10/2025: We stopped by during the Barcolana festival and couldn't help but stop for oysters (G!) and bubbles (an excellent Trento DOC)! The staff was super helpful (thank you, Irene!) and efficient! We'll be back.
14/09/2025: I found this bar by chance. The owner(?) was friendly, super fast, and they served delicious snacks with the drinks – something I've never experienced before. And all at surprisingly reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Osmica "U Kutu"

13/07/2025: I’m sitting in the village of Prosek, sipping real Prosecco — turns out this is where it originally comes from! However, the name Prosecco was officially registered elsewhere, so locals here are only allowed to call their wine Prosekar. There’s something called an Osmiza — a tradition that allows locals to sell their homemade wine and food, but only for a very limited time during the year. You can find a list of open Osmizas online, but it’s always best to ask locals which ones are authentic and not for tourist. Let me tell you — the wine was absolutely incredible. They should bottle it as perfume! A glass of their homemade Prosekar was just €3.50. We also shared some local meats — Prosciutto Arrosto and Ombolo — and for dessert, a panna cotta that was out of this world. We spent about an hour there, chatted with the locals, made some new friends. Not a tourist in sight — just a truly local experience.
