Sincere place. Good and absolutely worth taking is the mixed starter which would be for two, but enough for 4. The first courses are good. The meat is good. Attentive and fast service. Generous portions. Cruschi peppers and sautéed cardoncelli are excellent

At dinner last night we chose excellent and generous traditional dishes, prices within the norm; the restaurant located in the Sasso Barisano, is splendid and evocative and deserves to have a better rating!

We were made very welcome and the food was excellent. The room is very beautiful with large stone arches. In addition, the toilets were very clean. Our server (Carlo) was great! We had a great time.

We went to this really nice location for dinner today based on a recommendation. In my starter, normal bruscetta, only the tomatoes and arugula were edible. The bread was rock hard and inedible. When the listless waitress came and saw that all the slices of bread were still empty on the plate, I told her that you would need teeth like a shark to bite the bread. She nodded and said that today would be a bad day at the next table it was the same, so it wasn't an excuse or anything, no, the plate with the empty slices of bread was cleared away. The main course orecchiette was overcooked and my wife's dishes were just average. At the next table we noticed that a guest wanted to order a dish and the waiter advised him not to take it because it wouldn't taste good today. He was a bit perplexed and then reordered. When we paid our bill, the waitress didn't even look at us but actually charged the full price, which was outrageous. Maybe everyone had a bad day but I think the great atmosphere is enough for tourists.

Very nice and welcoming environment, excellent food and very friendly staff who are also available to recommend dishes from the area. To say I recommend it is an understatement! The owner together with his staff will make you feel good to say the least! Kindness, education and excellent quality are certainly not lacking in this place.

Ambiente molto piacevole e accogliente, scavato nel tufo, in una viuzza del Sasso Barisano. Menù dai sapori tradizionali e porzioni decisamente abbondanti. Noi siamo stati soddisfatti delle nostre scelte: peperoni cruschi, orecchiette con cime di rapa, cavatelli con salsiccia e funghi cardoncelli. Tutto davvero ottimo; migliorabile invece l’insalata di zucchine, mela e menta che è risultata insapore e un po’ sbilanciata nelle proporzioni fra gli ingredienti. Meno soddisfatti del servizio. Piuttosto supponente l’atteggiamento della signora che ha preso le nostre ordinazioni e si è stupita delle nostre scelte (i peperoni cruschi come antipasto “individuale”), molto cortese e sorridente invece la giovane cameriera che si è successivamente occupata di noi. In ogni caso consigliato.

Truly a very special place, typical Matera cuisine, with unique delicacies. The "pezzente" is excellent, the broad bean with chicory, and do an overdose of crusco pepper....

Matera is a foodie town, no denying. We picked Osteria Pico as the last of the four ristoranti we have had the chance to visit for dinner on this trip, simply because it was only 30 meters from our door. The closest restaurant to Endea was our favorite. Osteria Pico is hovering at about average for Matera, but we are very tough raters. We came here for the fave and cicori, and were quite pleased. The cavaletti was just as good, perhaps better. The cinghiale suffered by comparison, but was still excellent. Service was excellent, as we never struggled to get attention. Great wine list, and great house wines. Yes, we would return.
