Don't let the name fool you, the place is not a tavern but a real restaurant, with a discreetly elegant atmosphere, punctual and accurate service, extremely professional and polite staff and a varied and expertly prepared culinary offering: abundant and very tasty dishes , with traditional local dishes ranging from varied appetizers to a wide choice of first and second courses, not to mention the very special desserts and the excellent selection of wines. Absolutely honest prices, indeed I would say almost competitive in relation to quality and quantity. Absolutely recommended...!!!

We are two couples from Bari who on New Year's Day had the pleasure of having lunch in this beautiful location located in the heart of the suggestive Sassi on the recommendation of some friends from Matera. Courtesy, high quality food from starters to desserts are the emblem of This family-run tavern passionately prepares traditional Lucanian dishes with great skill.

Fantastic food, we had secondo only with some antipasti. Large portions, and delicious bistecca, maiale and wild boar. Very friendly service if understaffed when we were there. Beautiful restaurant in caves.

Excellent experience in this beautiful restaurant. Quiet and elegant atmosphere, very kind and polite staff. The wild boar with porcini mushrooms and the pork capocollo with bran peppers and cardoncelli are highly recommended. I will not fail to return as soon as I am in Matera again.

went on 20 December (friday) around 7.30pm the food was good. there are a lot of pasta shapes. the pasta dishes were good. the meat stew was a bit too salty. our server was really accommodating, she offered to sprinkle some pistachios on top of our dark chocolate soufflé when we were disappointed that they had run out of pistachio-flavoured soufflé and gave us another round of bread when we requested for it.

Ultima cena a Matera, cercando una location nei sassi ci facciamo consigliare da un collega questo posto dove ha cenato la sera prima. Posto splendido dentro il centro di Matera, si entra e si scende nella “grotta”.. 2 giovani ragazzi si prodigano nel servirci al meglio e ci riescono! Inizio con un antipasto di formaggi misti e crostone al pomodoro, buoni! Io proseguo con una pasta con pesto di pistacchi, funghi e formaggio gustoso! Il mio collega orecchiette alle cime di rapa e peperone crusco molto bello ed abbondante. 1 bottiglia di vino, acqua e 2 amari 96€. Mi è piaciuto il clima che si respirava, bravi ripeto i 2 giovani che con serietà e simpatia ci hanno accompagnato. Ci sarebbero da provare altri piatti ma all’indomani purtroppo, torniamo al “nord”!!!

Siamo entrati incuriositi dal menù esposto in esterno e devo dire che siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti, molto buoni i primi fatti con pasta fresca, ottimi anche agnello e coniglio! Consiglio
