The place is legendary for the fame that surrounds it, in fact it is truly a unique place. Already from the atmosphere at the entrance you are almost amazed, every corner of the wall is covered with flags, photos and writings. In any case we are here to eat, and we certainly don't go without food, the menu is almost fixed and all based on fish, there are many starter courses and generous quantities. The recipes are really well made, the cacciucco which is the Livorno specialty is just as expected. Between one course and another and the wine that helps, there is also a lot of singing to do. It costs little and there is also a merchandising corner. Truly unique.

Coming to Livorno and not eating at Melafumo is a miss if you want to breathe the soul of the city. A restaurant that only in Livorno has a reason to exist, characteristic without giving in to the seduction of tourists. You eat in cheerful chaos, with background music that gets louder when "Bella ciao" or "Bandiera rossa" comes on. It might seem like folklore but instead it's Livorno style. The extraordinary thing is that in a place like this you expect basic cuisine and instead the dishes we ate, from the linguine with sea urchin to the rigatoni with octopus and the fried fish, were all of a high standard. A very pleasant surprise. Well done, well done, well done... and never mind if you come out a little smoked.... more than honest prices

Come definire questa osteria anni 70? Calda, gradevole, con cibo genuino e abbondante. Mai tralasciare di tornarvi !! Antipasto di impepata con ceci e baccalà fritto, gnocchi magistrali e ombrina da resuscitare i morti. Tiramisù squisito. Mai rinunciare!
