Osteria Melafumo In Livorno

A blast from the past... Congratulations to everyone, especially Ginevra. The atmosphere was as welcoming as we hoped.

I was curious to try this now historic place. The food was good, the portions generous, and the price was fair...but the crowds and especially the loud music made it difficult for us to have a proper conversation.

If you want to truly understand what it means to spend an evening in Livorno, you have to go to Melafumo. As soon as you enter, you understand that it's not "just" a restaurant: it's an experience. Cheerful tables, music that starts suddenly, people singing without a microphone, and that carefree atmosphere typical of Livorno that makes you feel at home even if it's your first time. Here, we laugh loudly, we toast even louder... and the food is divine. The fish dishes are a true delight: fresh, flavorful, and plentiful (and when I say plentiful, I mean you leave rolling but happy!). Authentic seafood flavors, cooked with passion and without too many frills: real stuff, reminiscent of tradition and conviviality. You don't go to Melafumo to take the perfect photo of your dish (even if you'd love to), you go to experience the evening. Between a song that's off-key but full of enthusiasm and a forkful of spectacular fish, you find yourself smiling without even realizing it. In short? The food is good, the singing is terrible...🤣🤣🤣 but it's wonderful. And that's what matters 💙 Spectacular

What can I say? It's an experience, an atmosphere that's increasingly hard to find these days. And the dishes are truly a journey! The fried cod is a unique delight! The octopus is mouth-watering! Be persistent and go!

Valentine's Day, excellent food, a quirky, traditional theme, music I haven't heard in years, like "Avanti Popolo Bandiera Rossa Trionferà" (The Red Flag Triumphs). I'll definitely be back. The only flaw is that the caciucco is made to order for a minimum of 6 people. No one tells you, and when you arrive, it's not on the menu, which is quite disappointing because it's a typical Livorno dish.

A leap back to the 1970s, amidst PCI flags and images of the CHE, all in a welcoming, boisterous, and warm atmosphere. Excellent food, served by smiling girls. We'll definitely be back!

We arrive at 8:00 PM, as scheduled. We eat a first course, second course, and punch. At exactly 8:40 PM, the waitress arrives and says, "You have to free up the table for us." When I booked, no one told me they have two sittings or that I had to vacate the table by a certain time (40 minutes later...), because if they do, I have no problem keeping to the time. So instead, I felt left out, and I didn't like it.

A truly unique place. Even though I'm predominantly right-wing, life requires knowing how to navigate the context. If you accept the irony of the place and don't really think about the massacres committed during the Communist era, you can enjoy truly delicious food, like at a top-notch trattoria. The staff is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is truly unique, and the price is almost ridiculous for how good and how much you eat. Lastly, I even paid with American Express, so they're communists until they want their money, hahaha. Highly recommended.
