Elegant restaurant ...just for the entree offered by the kitchen and their focaccias (they make the bread!!) it would be worth going there.

In the heart of old Ovada, where the architecture of the facades betrays Ligurian influences, in the main square, a space of ancient agoras, a discreet entrance announces the Archivolto. Once you cross the threshold, you immerse yourself in a world that once was, witnessed by walls full of photographs from times gone by, almost as if to establish a bridge between the present and tradition. A fireplace divides two rooms, separate and autonomous, as if to lighten the number of customers between them, preserving their privacy. A worthy mention should be made for the uniform of the lady in the dining room, an intense and austere black, a sign of class and elegance. Work is pressing and the time available allows us to have an appetizer and a first course. The vitello tonnato is sumptuous, delicate as rarely happens, but with a precise and clean flavour. The castelmagno gnocchi remind us that, even if only slightly, we are still in Piedmont. The Ovada dessert is excellent (it would be insulting to the majesty not to taste such a peculiarity of the area) and the pralines offered by the house are very welcome. Certain excellences have a price that must be recognized, as it is the sum of many commitments aimed at achieving the best and keeping it constant. L'Archivolto is not a place for a lunch break or after work: it is a temple that you enter if you want to celebrate the food and wine culture of a border land, full of experiences that add up. Lookout for excellence, bearer of good news to the palate. Compliments.

We arrived by chance and without a reservation; they gave us a table outside. The location is pleasant, in a square closed to traffic that day. Whoever served us was professional and pleasant.

Location accogliente, camerieri gentilissimi, competenti disponibili; servizio impeccabile nonostante fosse Natale e ci fosse il ristorante stra pieno. Piatti originali, ricercati, ben impiattati sempre deliziosi. Dolce gelato di castagne favoloso. Grande disponibilità di tartufi. Apprezzatissimi il benvenuto dello chef e la piccola pasticceria che arriva con i caffe.Prezzi nn economici ma direi giustificati dalla qualità del servizio. Se non si ha paura di spendere CONSIGLIATISSIMO

Purtroppo l'ultimo posto era nella parte aperta della cantina, locale degli stessi proprietari adiacente al ristorante. Stesso menù. Funghi per riscaldare e copertura di plastica.
Abbiamo mangiato gnocchetti col tartufo buoni. Ma il tartufo nero era praticamente insapore.
I secondi avevano prezzi eccessivi, a mio avviso.
In compenso ottima accoglienza con focaccia e grissini fatti da loro e budino di patate con salsa di carciofi davvero buoni.
Prezzi un po' alti, decisamente troppo per chi pranza in quello spazio aperto.
Pro e contro, insomma.
Riproveremo l'esperienza nei locali principali del ristorante.
