Excellent cuisine. We had braised horse meat with polenta, bigoli al ragu, and polenta with mushrooms. Good house wine.

The food is completely local and excellent! The experience is authentic from beginning to end. We arrived and the owner was still setting up the place, but he welcomed us with unparalleled hospitality, as if we were close relatives visiting his home.
To drink, we chose the local Ripasso wine, which was fantastic. For main courses, we tried the typical cuisine of the region: I ordered the polenta with horse stew (pastissada de caval) and my wife had the local pasta with duck; both were excellent and very well executed.
To end on a high note, the house Tiramisu is a must-try. If you are looking for the true local flavor with warm service, this is the place!

Small, quaint tavern. Friendly welcome and service.
We had lasagna and tagliatelle, both with Bolognese sauce. The tagliatelle was average, with a bit too little sauce.
The lasagna was okay, but it didn't really contain any ragu.
The tiramisu for dessert unfortunately had too much alcohol in some places, so you couldn't really taste the rest, but otherwise it was very creamy.
Overall, it was alright (price-wise too), but I wouldn't necessarily go there again.

A decent restaurant that's about average in Verona.
However, it's not suitable for large groups. The dining room and kitchen are small.
The waitress even asked us not to order too many different dishes to avoid a long wait. We were seated at the back of the room near the restrooms, so not necessarily the best spot. A small surprise at the end: the owner refused to split the bill because it annoyed her.
So, we won't necessarily remember it for the food.

We dined at Osteria la Vela for two weeks and I must honestly say that we had a great time. We ate almost everything on the menu and I must say that they were all excellent. The staff was kind and friendly. Highly recommended.
