An authentic osteria in the heart of Modena! The host is a man from another era, friendly and welcoming, who immediately puts you at ease. Excellent food, authentic and flavorful dishes. The price is more than fair for the quality. Highly recommended!

It was an authentic immersion in a classic osteria of the past. Mr. Claudio accompanied us throughout lunch with stories of real life and pearls of wisdom. The food was excellent, showcasing the authentic flavors of the dishes. The walls are lined with photos of famous people who have lunched or dined at the osteria. Recommended for nostalgics and those who want to dive into the "normal" life of a few decades ago!

As soon as you cross the threshold of this Osteria, you're transported back decades, to the days of our grandparents, when food was simple and authentic, handmade with the ingredients nature offered us season by season. These things no longer exist today. With so much choice and so much attention to appearances, we've lost sight of the true values ​​and flavors of what we truly need! The menu is set with water, wine that tastes like juice, two first courses, two second courses, a dessert, coffee, and a liqueur. For those of us who don't eat meat, they gave us seconds of delicious first courses, skipping the second courses, but we still left with full bellies for a truly negligible price. The place is beautiful, in my opinion. Outside, there's a lovely gazebo full of greenery, and inside, it's all wood, with countless frames hung about the place's history, and above our heads, fabulous colorful Art Nouveau chandeliers. And last but not least, the kindness and hospitality of both the innkeeper and the waiter made us feel at home, even welcoming our two dogs. Thank you for this beautiful evening that reminded us that simplicity and kindness are the most important things.

The lunch itself was good, even though we hadn't ordered. We were offered a sort of tasting menu, with a shared first course of tortellini, veal zampone with mashed potatoes, three stewed meatballs, and beans with pork rind. All individual portions were shared. Then there was a sbrisolona to share, and barley coffee with a nocino liqueur that wasn't my cup of tea. The wine wasn't wine, but rather a cigliegiolo, according to the owner, which didn't reach 10 degrees Celsius, and that was true. We essentially paid €60 for this lunch, claiming it was a special price because an evening menu for a special guest was already prepared for lunch despite the closing time. In short, a lot of words, in my opinion, but little substance, a bit of malice, and an outrageous price.

The simplicity of the food, the authenticity of the place, and Mr. Claudio, a passionate and charming host. The service is attentive and fast. A must-see if you want to experience the authenticity of Modena's cuisine and the stories of "Drake," who was a regular at Piola.

A wonderful experience, not so much for the food, which was excellent, but for the location and the host, who entertained us with old stories of life and showed us the only remaining "brothel" located right behind the restaurant, which is managed by the aunt and renovated, keeping everything original including the furnishings and converting it into a B&B... It's a shame about the beautiful garden and the swimming pool left to the neglect of time... I recommend going at least once, since the owner, very old, has no heirs, and it is unknown whether this place full of history will continue to live over time...

Siamo arrivati in questa osteria, in viaggio verso Milano. Son sincera, ho guardo su trip advisor un posto vicino all'uscita, perché volevamo fare veloce. Convinti dalle recensioni, abbiamo telefonato e nonostante sia un festivo ci hanno accolto subito e senza indugio. Non sono esperta delle zone modenesi, l'osteria sorge in mezzo a dei campi, e fuori ci aspetta una grande insegna antica di metallo che mi ha ricordato un po' le fiere antiche (io adoro questo genere di cose). La prima cosa che sento è il profumo di fiori, di alberi, precisamente Tigli e alberi di Jasmine, mai pranzato con un profumo così intenso. Veniamo accolti gentilmente dal cameriere e dall'Oste, il signor Claudio , che ha evidentemente passato l'intera sua vita in mezzo a quei tavolini dove si destreggia abilmente. Ci viene lasciato il menù, che oltre alla fescri dei piatti, ha narrati epiteti e storie delle tradizioni (ne ho fatto un servizio fotografico,non potendo portarmelo via per ricordo purtroppo). Dopo un breve preambolo del signor Claudio in cui ci narra il motivo del menù speciale di oggi, dove vi sono pochissime portate (cosa che adoro di nuovo), Ordiniamo due primi e due secondi uguali. Ma ci viene fatto assaggiare praticamente tutto il menù (per fortuna perché mi seccava dover scegliere solo una cosa visto che tutto prometteva bene). Che dire, Le pietanze superbe nella loro semplicità, tutte cose fatte in casa, coi sapori di una volta, trasudano traduzione e amore per il cibo e per le persone che lo mangeranno . Genuino, semplice ma soprattutto BUONO. buono buono buono. Tutto. Dal vino Lambrusco di loro produzione, al salame in entree, I due primi,i due secondi, anche l'insalatina era buona. Il dolce fatto con la polenta come una volta. L'amaro fatto in casa e il caffè fatto con l'orzo e le ghiande sopra le nostre teste. Il conto meritarissimo. Persone splendide, in un contesto splendido con cibo splendido. Non c'è niente da aggiungere. Grazie di cuore a chi ancora fa esistere posti così! Di sicuro a presto!

Un luogo che racconta di storie antiche, ogni pietra, ogni mobile parla di quante persone sono passate alla Piola! Il proprietario Claudio ti accoglie da vero Emiliano raccontandoti aneddoti curiosi. Il cibo? Una vera delizia per il palato: piatti semplici con materie prime di qualità. Ricette della tradizione che non ti appesantiscono anzi, ti fanno dire "ci ritorno"!
