High-quality food in a setting steeped in history. Mr. Vanni and his wife, the chef, are two old-fashioned innkeepers and entertainers who introduce you to a restaurant management style that's long gone.

Today we discovered a little gem nestled in the tranquil countryside of Brescello: Osteria La Golena. A place with a homey atmosphere, where every delicious and plentiful dish tells a story of flavor, tradition, and passion for fine Emilian cuisine. We started with two first courses that absolutely won us over: • Pumpkin tortelli with an authentic flavor, soft and enveloping • Porcini mushroom and truffle tortelli, simply out of this world, fragrant and rich. Followed by a tender braised beef accompanied by a truly extraordinary corn polenta, the perfect balance between rusticity and sophistication. A generous platter of cured meats was a must: coppa dell'Emilia, salami, and prosciutto, along with grilled and pickled vegetables, completed an impeccable array of flavors. All accompanied by a fragrant and delicious Lambrusco, which enhanced each dish without ever overpowering it. The family-run staff was kind, knowledgeable, and always attentive to our needs, helping us feel truly at home. 📍 Easily accessible, surrounded by greenery and the tranquility of the countryside, this osteria is the ideal place for those who love to discover tradition while sitting down at the table. 💛 Highly recommended: an experience that will remain in our hearts and that we can't wait to relive!

Unfortunately for us (foreigners), the verbal menu didn't help us choose dishes we weren't familiar with. Something written down and a couple of minutes to read, decide, and possibly ask for more information would have made us appreciate this place more. Partly our fault. However, the ladies are very kind, the portions are generous, and the value for money is excellent. Overall, a positive experience.

We had lunch over a month ago, a table of ten. The host is a perfect fit: present, attentive, friendly but not intrusive, and with a subtle sense of humor that personally put me in a good mood. They have an endless list of tortelli; we tried five varieties, and we absolutely must return to try the other 20 (at least) varieties. The gnocchi and cured meats are top-quality. Next time I'll try their meats. The price is unbeatable. Long live Golena.
