Do not miss a visit to Il Papavero during your trip to Tuscany!! This small, quaint restaurant is located in a small town with stunning views and atmosphere. It is family run - the service was absolutely wonderful and it is clear how much they love and are passionate about their restaurant. The meal was one of our favorites during our entire trip - everything we ate was beyond delicious. Cannot recommend Il Papavero enough for a local, intimate, and authentic dining experience.

Small restaurant in the village of Barbischio, authentic Tuscan cuisine, with well-made and very balanced dishes, local wines from small producers and a good choice of wines from all over Italy, perfect service, courteous and attentive, they always make you feel welcome and "at home".

This place is one of the hidden gems of Tuscany, we came across it by chance but we were so glad we did! We would go out of our way to go again. The Chef is reimagining classic Tuscan dishes with a twist. The front of house staff were so friendly, and passionate and knowledgeable about the menu. They even shared a Grappa with us at the end of the meal! The price is fantastic for the quality, this is not to be missed. We had the ‘Tuscan Tuna’ which is actually Pork, the local Beef pepper stew, and the pork ribs slow cooked for 24 hours. All highly recommended. The wine list is excellent also. We watched the sunset over the hills from our lovely little table outside. We will be back!

This is our second year here, and the service and food are simply perfect.
We'll be back again and again, as there's simply no better way to spend a romantic evening!!! :)
As always, the food and drinks are a poem in a beautiful setting with excellent wines.

Un posto delizioso tra le magnifiche colline del Chianti, addolcito dalla gentilezza e competenza dei gestori. Ci vengo da anni almeno una volta tra Pasqua e il 1 maggio. ottimi i pici e la rosticciana. Consigliatissimo.

Locale intimo e strepitoso, curato nei dettagli dall’oste Claudio che mette subito a proprio agio i suoi commensali instaurando da subito un clima di convivialità. Attenta la ricerca delle materie prime e l’utilizzo delle stesse. Divertente la sfida con il Tiramisù fatta con noi trevigiani… Abbiamo molto apprezzato il momento con i cenni storici del
borgo che ci ha ospitato. Locale assolutamente consigliato per il cibo, la location e il prezzo! ♥️
