Osteria Il Gallo nel Pozzo In Panicale

My girlfriend and I stopped by for a late lunch, not knowing what to expect. The food we received was beyond exceptional. I had the Fusili Ragu, her the Wild Boar. We are going back again for the ragu, which is cooked for 16-18 hours from what we were told. The owner Simone was also very kind to us. Highly recommend!

Il Gallo nel Pozzo is situated right on Panicale's beautiful main square, with a small indoor dining area and a bigger outside one. The menu does not include a very ample list but it offers a fair choice of dishes, mainly inspired by the local cuisine and specialties. The quality of food is good but it seems the restaurant is putting lots of efforts on the presentation and narrative of its cuisine, therefore raising the expectations of the customers to a level that the actual food somehow struggles to reach, also considering that the prices are quite above the average for this kind of restaurants. Service is OK.

There wasn't a single dish we didn't enjoy, from the appetizers to the first course and the main course. The location is charming, in Panicale's historic square, and the table settings boast Deruta ceramics created specifically for the restaurant. Credit also goes to Simone, who welcomed and served us with professionalism and kindness.

A refined restaurant, meticulously maintained in both form and substance. Interesting dishes, expertly prepared. Impeccable service, reasonable bill. Well done, we'll be back.

Qui tutto riflette la cura e la passione di chi manda avanti questo piccolo (ma fantastico) ristorante. Arredo, impiattamento, servizio e qualità dei piatti offerti. Niente é fuori posto ma rimane sempre coerente a se stesso. Si vede che c’è amore per il proprio lavoro ma soprattutto per la cucina. Un occhio alla tradizione del territorio ma con curiosità, ricerca e soprattutto tanta tecnica ben dosata e sempre restando con i piedi per terra. Ho apprezzato molto quando candidamente ci hanno detto che per proporre il piccione hanno aspettato il momento giusto per sentirsi pronti in cucina. Senza l’umiltà non si ottengono risultati. Proseguite con questo spirito, che la strada è quella giusta!

Nella suggestiva piazza centrale di Panicale abbiamo pranzato all'aperto ad un tavolo arredato con semplice cura . Il cibo era di qualità e presentato con elegante impiattamento. Abbiamo apprezzato l'ospitalità del proprietario che ci ha accolto parlandoci del suo amore per il territorio. Le pietanze realizzate con prodotti a km zero erano squisite. Porteremo con noi il ricordo di questa piacevole esperienza.
