We were looking for accommodation in a place where we could visit cities such as Florence and Siena by train. This is how we ended up at Osteria del Vicario in the old part of Certaldo. We were pleasantly surprised by Erik's hospitality and friendly service. Breakfast is not in the form of a buffet, but you are served by the host. The room was clean. In our opinion it was warm, which is understandable because no air conditioning is allowed due to the (surrounding) medieval buildings. The room does have a fan. Thanks again, Erik, for the warm welcome and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a charming and authentic place to stay in Tuscany.

I can absolutely recommend the dinner experience, even if you’re not an overnight guest. Very exclusive, mind-blowing taste combined with a spectacular view of Tuscany! We had the surprise menu and my vegan and non-vegan friends were equally impressed by the flavours. Hats off to the chef, who was absolutely lovely and so was the host.

Beautiful spot for a vegan dinner full of surprising tastes and textures. Also: great cocktails and amazing wines. The friendly staff completes a special experience.

We were lured by the jazz music and the promise of home made lemonade and were welcomed to sit at the terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills. The view is precious and a delightful atmosphere with this place a little off the main strip which has a feel of exclusivity and luxury. The menu is crafted consciously for small bites and very refreshing drinks (I was seduced by the Limoncello spritzer 🍹 which didn’t disappoint!). All in all top rating and well worth making a reservation for, even for the inside tables in colder seasons. (we didn’t stay at the hotel)

We had dinner here while we were staying in Certaldo Alto. A fully vegan and delicious, creative menu. The most beautiful setting, and they only seat 8 people a night, so it felt really special and we were brilliantly looked after. It was a really memorable and special meal. Not cheap, but worth it for a real treat!

Simple but very tasteful lunch at a very special location. Unfortunately there were no gluten free options for lunch, but if we were staying closer to Certaldo we would certainly go there again to enjoy dinner.

We were truly surprised and fascinated by the room in which we stayed for a night in which we could breathe the history and typicality of Certaldo! In the photos on social media it was already very beautiful, the reality confirmed a magical place. The view from the terrace where you eat is wonderful! The owners are very kind and have a special courage in deciding to bring totally plant-based cuisine! An honorable mention to the cuisine, we took the tasting menu for dinner and it was a journey to discover fantastic, refined, intense and tasty flavours... there's a world waiting to be discovered!

We stopped for a drink before lunch, in order to spend some time in their beautiful terrace with outstanding view. The restaurant now offers a vegan menu, but only at dinner in the hot season, at lunchtime they only offer a "picnic basket" to go with a drink. It was very pleasant, the place is really charming and service friendly and efficient. We will go back if we have the chance.

A hidden treasure in Certaldo Alto, just to the right of the Palazzo. Beautifully old and very authentic. Wonderful views from the terrace over to San Gimignano and the location Tuscan hills. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We chose a small picnic basket of bread and homemade sauces, with a couple of drinks. It was delicious and the perfect place to relax and take in the views. The Osteria is also a B&B with 4 rooms, maybe one for our next visit!
