Osteria del Salvagente In Trieste

We had a great lunch at this Osteria. It does retain a genuine osteria vibe with outside seating that is very contemporary. There is an English menu which is helpful if you don’t speak Italian. Service and food were both great and prices reasonable.

Trieste is beautiful. The restaurant is in a small street from which you can see the sea. Windy. Perfumes. Reasonable prices. Well made dishes. Wine: hey people, it's Friuli Venezia Giulia!

Close to the banks, the place is charming and recalls the trattorias of the past. The strong point are the starters, a selection of captivating and well-made proposals, sardines in savor, weever with fennel, stewed mackerel, marinated sea bass, octopus salad and others. The choice of three different tastings is unfortunately served in a saucer so small and narrow that instead of appearing separate and recognisable, they are crammed close to each other and the flavors mixed together. It would take little to serve them using a more suitable dish to keep them separate, it would gain their attention and taste. I move on to the dish I chose next: calamari stuffed with ricotta and mint. The calamari were hard and the mint flavor was too predominant in the filling. My partner chose spaghetti with cuttlefish and pea cream and told me that the pea cream was too abundant to the point of covering the flavor of the fish. In short, apart from the deliciousness of the starters, I can't say the same about the rest.

All quite good, portions perhaps a little small.

I've had excellent meals there several times now. Homemade gnocchi with vongole, fish soup, branzino with potatoes, calamari fritti and the small but very tasty mixed salad. Everything tasted excellent. The restaurant is also very cozy and fortunately not too big. I would love to come back to try the very tasty and really well prepared antipasti. Grazie ragazzi

Ricercando su internet prima del mio viaggio a Trieste, mi sono imbattuto in questo locale con cucina di pesce. Sono stato molto soddisfatto il pesce era fresco e ben cucinato, ho apprezzato gli abbinamenti proposti; ad esempio il baccalà con pancetta e crema di piselli, o il tonno alla piastra con radicchio e patate. Ottimi anche i contorni con la cicoria e la scarola. Qualche pecca nel servizio, abbiamo dovuto chiedere il pane perché non era stato portato. Nel complesso comunque esperienza più che positiva.
