Excellent restaurant with prompt and courteous service. The dishes are fairly simple and very carefully prepared. The desserts are truly excellent.

We always have a good time at Osteria del Mercante, a welcoming place, the food is good, and the staff is friendly, the owner is always willing to tell you how and where he makes his wine, and then the bill is fair, and in line with what you eat, recommended for lunches and dinners, reservations are recommended.

We called at the last minute on a Saturday evening, and I immediately appreciated the owners' kindness and helpfulness. They went out of their way to accommodate a table for seven, and I must say we had a great time. The food was good, and the waiters were all very courteous and knowledgeable, which is not a given these days. The prices were fair for the quality and authenticity of the dishes. A complimentary house liqueur was offered at the cash register!

Whenever I go to Santa Maria Maggiore, it becomes a regular stop. The area evokes a casual atmosphere, with traditional dishes and casual yet well-presented service, serving very good food. As soon as the new season arrives, I return, as I have every year for years.
