Osteria del Leone In Mesagne

After an exhausting day at work I felt a very strong desire for a hot dish of vegetables and I was wandering around the bars in the historic center with no luck when I saw this place. I'm not the ideal restaurant customer because I eat in moderation and avoid different categories of food, so I'm always a little shy in my approach because I feel like a pain in the ass but I was welcomed with great warmth and kindness. A delicious soup of artichokes, peas and broad beans made my wish come true, giving me warmth and comfort, followed by a nice plate of traditional paparina with olives, also delicious. The kindness, the informal but well-kept environment and the goodness of the dishes won me over and I left with beautiful memories in my heart and the desire to reciprocate, because the price was also extraordinary. The lady's taralli are a drug! For those who are vegetarian it is not easy to find places with healthy and tasty dishes and generally you have to adapt to the usual grilled vegetables and/or salad. Here I felt like I was at home.

Nice place, well presented and good dishes. I think it's a little expensive. Example: 1/2 liter bulk red wine €6. A dessert €7.

Cozy place and excellent food. Different types of starters, all delicious. The first delicious ones!!

Good food and excellent raw material. The mixed starter is highly recommended to share and even one for 3 people is enough if you are willing to split a few courses. The service is very professional but still not detached. The final treatment (biscuits and bitters offered) are textbook for an inn of this kind. The dishes with horse meat are highly recommended.

We went here for Valentine's Day lunch! We arrived there by chance and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes and the kindness of the staff. Generous portions and excellent quality of food... even the coffee was delicious! Absolutely coming back!

Excellent restaurant 👌🏼 We chose the excellent antipasti dish. Lots of delicious small dishes from the Nona kitchen with local flavors and fresh products. Lovely vintage tableware and tablecloths furniture ❤️ in Lissimo!

What can I say...authentic taste! Very good... the horse steak is also good. Very friendly staff and quick service. Super promoted

Ottima trattoria nel centro storico di Mesagne,titolare e staff gentili e disponibili, piatti di carne e pesce veramente buoni dalle orecchiette con involtini di cavallo ai ravioli di orata con vongole sino ad arrivare ai dolci fatti in casa. Consigliatissimo.Prezzi nella mrdia

So good, we had to go back! An enchanting and homely restaurant at the Piazza del Orlogio in Mesagne turned out to be the best culinary experience of our week long stay in Puglia. "Mama" in the kitchen works wonders and "Figlio" out front works magic in front keeping the many guests served without too much delay. Over two visits we simply loved the food. The carpaccio of tuna was excellent, the selection of antipasti (for two only) was a number of delights one after the other. The ravioli with sea bass filling was just remarkable. Every dish ordered was great. Recommend you reserve a table. We did passing by as they were preparing to open and we were on our way for a glass of primitive appero. Three dishes with nice local wines cost us around €45 each both times.
