Fantastic first evening in Florence

Family owned and operated gem in the heart of Florence. Great food and genuine family-style hospitality. Please don’t let yourselves be turned off by Marta’s old-fashioned, peculiar ways. If you expect fast food service, just go elsewhere. Just make sure to cancel your reservation and free some much needed space up

The food was incredible. I ordered the Risotto and my wife had the Tortelli. We also had the sliced beef and beef and potato meatballs. Nothing disappointed. The staff was also very accommodating. We made a reservation in advance for an early (6:30 PM) dinner with our two sons (6 and 2). When we arrived they had a table set with a high chair and special place settings for the children. On top of the food my wife and ordered they were nice enough to serve our children buttered noodles. Martarè was an incredible first meal on this trip to Florence after a long day of travel and train cancelations. We were still dusting off our broken Italian during this meal and the server was very patient with our clumsy ordering. Do not let a language barrier be the reason you skip this authentic Florentine restaurant!

In a maze of tourist troughs, which our city now is, Martaré is an authentic and genuine place, both for the quality of the people who work there and for the products they use. Last but not least, the care taken in the plating, simple but captivating: the chickpea cake looked like a painter's palette. Highly recommended, even just for a quick lunch, but slow enough to have time to enjoy the well-kept and original environment, the fresh flowers on the table and the delicious kindness of Mrs. Marta and the cake dedicated to her.

Particular restaurant, very nice, tastefully furnished; kind service, nice atmosphere, typical cuisine, quite good food but I didn't really appreciate the fact that the meatballs I ate (along with other things) were behind cooking and I especially didn't appreciate that having pointed it out (without complaining) I was an incorrect justification was given in my opinion, according to which it depended not on the cooking but on the type of meat. While I didn't agree, I accepted the answer.

Passing by this magnificent restaurant by chance, we do not regret having returned there. Marta and her husband served us very good dishes. The menu is small but varied and offers the possibility of taking half portions. We were guided by the wine recommendations, which were also excellent. In short, everything was beautiful and good, we will come back!
