If you find yourself in Mestre there are 3 reasons: you wanted to go to Venice but you got lost; you heard about the existence of the M9, the multimedia museum of the 20th century; you work or live there and you can't escape. In all this, the "da Gino" tavern is a happy island: an "old-fashioned" tavern with furnishings that recall the historic ones in Bologna or Trieste. It is very popular both for lunch and dinner. The owner Maurizio is a big man with white hair, stern but kind, almost always slyly at the counter. The staff in the dining room is attentive, smiling and fast. The chef comes from Venetian restaurants, he can prepare you a fish pie or risotto, as well as spectacular beef stew. The menu changes often according to the seasons. As a second course they have excellent meat and Iberian ham and medium and long-aged cheeses. Oh, I forgot! The walls are covered with excellent bottles of wine, there are two fridges full of excellent bubbles and you can spend little or a lot depending on how much you understand... In short, highly recommended to try.

4.5 is the right rating (5 is for perfection). The food is really excellent, the atmosphere is informal and convivial, the service is friendly but if you don't speak Italian well it's difficult to explain the dishes. Overall definitely recommended👌

The place was so good we had to come again. The Linguine San Danielle was delicious as was the Gnocchi and the Angus cut. In our opinion the absolute star of the show was the San Danielle. The creamy sauce with salty pork specks was absolutely amazing. It was definitely our favorite dish this trip to Italy. The staff can take a moment to warm up to you, but I get it. They are used to dealing with locals, so I appreciate being served these culinary masterpieces in their home town. Thank you Mr. Gino for making an exception and allowing me to take the food away. Please don’t listen to any bad reviews. Osteria Da Gino is just about as local as you can get. I do recommend you make a reservation. You may get there and see no one in the restaurant, but others have made reservations prior. Remember Italy doesn’t kick you out quickly or serve fast food. They take their time; so often tables are prioritized to those who have a reservation.

Tavern with interesting dishes, very inviting platter of cold cuts and cheeses. Good choice of first and second courses and plenty of tasty side dishes. Local wines, with careful selection of companies Punctual and courteous service. Simple but well-presented tables

First restaurant I’ve been to in Italy and I’m in love😍 Mostly locals come for dinner, and gets crowded past 20.00, the food is amazing! Best prosciutto in my life, and artichokes 😋 Highly recommend chatgpt-ing the menu, if you’re not confident with local meal naming)

Nice place to drink and have a drink in the center of Mestre. Excellent quality wine, cured meats and meat. It's a shame for the place which has rather small spaces (with our group of 10 people plus children we occupied the whole room). Medium-high prices (€35 each for drinks and cold cuts platter)

Siamo andati in 4 e abbiamo cenato. Fiorentina per tre e pollo per uno, acqua e ottima bottiglia di vino. Caffè alla fine con mandarini offerti. La Fiorentina era ben cotta e saporita, ne abbiamo mangiate di più tenere. I tavoli un po' attaccati lun l'altro ma in una osteria ci può stare. Personale tutto affabile e gentile. Speso 50 euro a persona.

06/07/2025: It is one of the stops par excellence every time I go to Fano, not so much for the food (which is exquisite), but for the beauty of the place! Both in summer and winter the charm is wonderful! I regularly find myself saying that celebrating a wedding here would be a fairy tale! We celebrated my sister's graduation and we did not regret it.
03/07/2025: oysters not fresh (7€ each) long wait and crazy prices, fantastic location.

10/06/2025: We had dinner at the restaurant using the package with accommodation for one night in Burano. A truly magical experience! Needless to say, the menu was exquisite and the message that the chefs want to convey with their environmental cuisine was also very interesting.
08/06/2025: The judgment refers to the experience at the Osteria Contemporanea: The service was unfortunately approximate: A glass was missing, a napkin, and they brought sparkling water instead of still water. The first course was served and left there without presentation. The 4 surprise courses did not excite me but perhaps the expectations were too high, a dinner at the restaurant probably and not at the osteria would have had a different "impact". The very good macerated white wine. But the thing that leaves the most bitter taste in the mouth is this, we went to pay and Chiara at that precise moment moves to the osteria kitchen, visible because it has glass. We ask while we are paying “since she is here behind us can we say hello?”, wait a minute, she comes into the kitchen and talks to her.. she comes out… I’m sorry but the chef is busy right now… he is so busy that he can’t turn his head and wave from the glass??... it would have been a small gesture of gratitude that would be much appreciated… We very ironically accepted the verdict and left saying… “it doesn’t matter, say hello to her!!!”. The beauty of coming to these places goes beyond the courses that are served, whether they are 4…7…10…15…. sharing, even a simple greeting can be! I understand that we were at the tavern and not the restaurant, but in any case we are also part of those who allow this place to continue to exist and for them to continue to do their job. While we were having dinner we were thinking of returning and trying the restaurant experience that can still be seen from the tavern!!… I will think about it carefully unfortunately.. with regret!!! Thanks anyway for the experience.
