What can I say... excellent Langhe cuisine

Retro location but beautiful view. At Gemma's it takes patience to book because it is truly a unique place to which VIPs and famous people have passed through this OSTERIA. however the food and the house wine are really delicious.

pleasant trattoria with beautiful views of the Langhe, menu that discreetly reflects the Piedmontese tradition, efficient, friendly and fast service considering the place is full. 4 starters: good raw and cooked salami, quality raw meat, overly generous portion simple Russian salad with boiled egg potatoes carrots peas pleasant to the palate anonymous veal with tuna sauce, seasoned with mayonnaise sauce with practically no tuna which you couldn't taste at all. 2 tastings of first courses: tajarin of good consistency but seasoned with a ragù that I didn't like, unfortunately the ravioli al plin were also seasoned with the same ragù, I would have really appreciated a little simple butter because it would have highlighted the filling better. 2 tastings of second course with side dish of stewed fennel: roasted braised soft meat but for me the braised meat has other stronger aromas, roasted rabbit... A stringy morsel. Trio of desserts: the bunet is good, the panna cotta is superfluous and banal, the meringue is too sweet, I wonder why not prepare just 2 traditional desserts, the bunet is fine and either a cooked pear or a small piece of hazelnut cake or a small fruit salad. Dolcetto wine from Roddino, mediocre The good price is attractive for those who want to take a trip to the Langa.

The place really looks like a real tavern, only a little brighter and with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. We were greeted with courtesy and shortly after sitting at the table the service began, the menu is fixed, four starters, two first courses, two second courses and a trio of desserts. Excellent house wine, alternatively good choice of regional labels. Personally, I know the traditional dishes that are served very well and for this reason, in their genuine simplicity, I found the quality that makes Osteria da Gemma famous even beyond regional borders. The bill is certainly not excessive but even if it were it would still be worth trying this experience of tradition and authenticity.
