Osteria da Bice la Gallina Felice In Mantova

For my son's graduation, we celebrated with the family at Bice. There were eight of us, and we ordered platters as appetizers, followed by three first courses recommended by the owner, water, and a bottle of Franciacorta for dessert—the delicious bignolata. Everything was excellent. The only negative note, and I'm truly sorry to say this, was the bathroom. Since my mother is wheelchair-bound, she couldn't use the restroom because it's a squat toilet. I thank the owner again for her courtesy.

As soon as we arrived in Mantua on a very rainy evening, we decided to have dinner at this restaurant at the owner's suggestion. Given the lackluster evening, we were practically the only customers, and we received excellent advice on traditional local dishes from the lady who served us. The dishes were generous and delicious, and the service was very friendly! Thank you!!!

I went there for the first time about a week ago, after a recommendation from a woman from Mantua. I have to say it was truly spot on: a small place, but superb cuisine with traditional dishes. For dessert, I highly recommend the sbridolona with zabaglione, made from an old recipe by the chef, the best I've ever had. I recommend booking, as there are limited seats.

The legendary Stefy is wonderful, her cuisine, and this restaurant is a real gem!!! Well done! Well done! Keep it up ❤️

I spotted Bice a year ago when I was in Mantua for a wedding, and I promised myself I'd go next time I was in the city! The chicken figurines decorating the restaurant are truly charming 🐔❤️ The dishes are quite generous and very good, the plating is thoughtful but unpretentious, appropriate for the type of place. The location is quiet, even though it's close to a main road. I found the service a bit aloof, but above all, inattentive and slow. We were the first to arrive for lunch, which was fortunate, but we still had to wait up to half an hour between courses, while customers who arrived after us waited even longer simply to order. The service organization needs revising. It's a shame about the toilets.

Very good food and adequate portions, good service, they don't rush you at all, in fact you feel at ease.

A magnificent experience. The food is the true star: free of unnecessary showy frills, yet plated with care and elegance. The detail is in the dish itself, in the excellent quality of the ingredients. You can feel a homey touch in the best sense of the word, that of comfort food that warms and satisfies. The portions are generous, especially considering the moderately low prices. The staff is extremely friendly, with a special mention for the owner: welcoming and attentive. The restaurant's aesthetic is simple, down-to-earth yet pleasant, and everything is clean and tidy. The wait times were very short, and we felt pampered: we never felt like we were missing out; on the contrary, our expectations were always exceeded and met. The outdoor area is wonderful: it truly feels like being in your own backyard with friends, almost forgetting you're in a restaurant surrounded by strangers. A place to return to without hesitation.

A bit disappointed with the food. The steak was served cold. It wasn't listed anywhere, so we didn't eat it; it's not for everyone. My spaghetti (dish of the day) was also rubbish. And the price was very, very high. So, never again for us. Money wasted.
