Osteria Bakan In Venezia

Probably the best place we ate while in Venice. That said, it was tourist food... Do not consider anything in Venice to be representative of what you will find elsewhere in Italy.

We ate here for lunch today and it was delicious. We both had Spaghetti ragu (bolognese) for primo and bistecchi (beef) for secondo. It is a very calm part of Venice, full of locals. The chef makes delicious food and it feels like one of the most authentic places you can eat in Venice. We also had our 1-year old baby with us and they were very sweet with him (as are most restaurants in Venice).

I ordered tagliatelle with scallops and porcini mushrooms and it was very salty.

Eating at Bakan is a wonderful experience. The food, prepared by chef Diego and the young talent Simone, is always excellent, blending tradition and creativity. The atmosphere is welcoming and feels like home.

If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Venice, cancel your plans, drop what you’re doing and come here. I’m writing this with tears in my eyes. Tears of sorrow that I don’t live in italy and can’t have this every day. Where to even start with how incredible this dinner was. We began with mussels that were incredible fresh and in an amazing sauce and they gave us the best bread I have ever had in my life. They saw how quickly we finished it and brought us another and i’m not too ashamed to admit we finished that one too. Then the stars of the show, as if it could have gotten any better after the muscles and bread. We had the seafood pasta and the spaghetti and clams and I swear the earth stopped while I was eating this. Truly the best pasta I have ever been graced with in this lifetime. And then we had the tiramisu for dessert which was of course, delicious. On top of this we had the kindest man ever as our waiter and everyone who worked there was also incredibly sweet.

I went there at dinner time. The food was so delicious. And, the waiter is funny. Because I'm Japanese, he spoke Japanese a little.

A little gem on a less crowded side of Venice. We had dinner at a table located in the internal courtyard which is welcoming, quiet and offers a small glimpse of the adjacent canal. The first ones we tasted were all of the highest level. The scallop and porcini tagliolini with very fresh ingredients and a rich flavour. Cacio e pepe pasta with lime and prawns, a combination that gives incredible sensations. Spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and burrata with a deep and intense flavour. Furthermore, with the fried fish that three of us shared, we were able to enjoy the crunchiness of fresh fish cooked in an ideal way. The impeccable service as well as the kindness and friendliness made the evening a moment to remember.

Excellent food with excellent quality and fresh raw materials. Excellent service. Beautiful location with deor in a beautiful and quiet area. Low prices (below the Venetian average) and generous portions.
