A warm welcome despite our late arrival at 9 pm without a reservation. The food was simple but good. The tagliatelle with fresh porcini mushrooms was a real treat. The owner and the waiter were very friendly. We had a great time. I recommend it.

Probably the best place to eat in Siena. We had a rabbit starter, home made pasta with truffle, the best-est ever octopus and quail. Each dish was yummy. We ended with an orange and chocolate desserts which were outstanding. The service was impeccable so was the wine. Thank you for making our last dinner at Siena so special!!!

We've eaten at this osteria several times, which aims to be both traditional and innovative (quite a battle!!). The place is nice, clean, and not too big (or a bit fancy). The wait times are normal. How's the food? The first time I ordered porcini mushrooms, which were cooked perfectly; subsequent visits, with a variety of menus, weren't disappointing either. I recommend it to those who aren't particularly hungry, given that the portions are small and the prices are reasonably priced :-)

What a wonderful discovery this Sienese osteria was! I opted for the beer-braised lamb with a homemade apple and exotic fruit chutney—mango, pineapple, passion fruit—and caramelized onions. It was an unexpected combination, but it turned out to be excellent; the two flavors blended together in surprising harmony. My friend chose the beef tagliata with white truffle, which was equally delicious. For dessert, we had a very well-executed apple and elderflower cheesecake. The service deserves a mention: when I asked about the chutney, the waiter took the time to explain it to me with pleasure and kindness. This kind of attention always makes a difference. And finally, a special mention for the decor: tiny paintings in large frames, a quirky and charming touch that perfectly captures the spirit of the place. Here, they go all out, both literally and figuratively.

We were walk-ins on a busy Sunday evening. Barely space although they kindly found us a table for two. Enjoyed a local beer and a Tuscan Chianti Reserve red wine (€30). A shared risotto with blueberries and mushrooms to start - delicious. Our mains were cod - very tender - and what they call pork chops. I would term them as pork ribs and also very tender. We finished with apple cheesecake - more of a tart than a cheesecake and a butter milk curd mousse with orange caramel - tasty although very creamy. As a suggestion, the combination of the two would be a superior dessert. Service was perfect and a nice atmosphere in a busy restaurant. The food bill was about €30 each for 3 courses. The additions were water, beer, wine and coffee.

An excellent restaurant. We had guinea pig, lamb, octopus, and pasta with white truffle. Everything was perfectly prepared. We were lucky and found a table; if you arrive too late, you'll be sold out.

The food was really good. I recommend the tagliatelle with truffles, which are delicious. The roast potatoes and the tagliata were also excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. Thank you!

Osteria Babazuf was one of my favorite places to eat in all of Italy. The daily special was a very tasty pasta with truffle, but what I liked most was the dessert with orange zest—my favorite!

Osteria Il Ghibellino

01/05/2026: A proper Sienese osteria, no compromises. The chickpea flatbread with robiola cream was a great start — simple, well-executed. Pici all’aglione e briciole was the highlight: thick handmade pasta, bold garlic sauce, just the right texture. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the fried brain — a classic offal dish done with confidence. Genuine Tuscan cooking at honest prices. Book ahead, it fills up fast.
26/04/2026: I ate a rosemary sirloin with battered fried onions that was something divine!... It's a shame I live so far away... highly recommended.
