Maybe someone will take you for miles up and down the Monferrato hills, only to then eat what you would have found at the deli down the street! Here we are in the center of Casale Monferrato, just minutes from the highway toll booth, in a restaurant run for decades by a family whose wife still runs the kitchen. Your Piedmontese food will be divine! Upon entering, you'll be greeted by the owner, then seated in beautiful rooms or, weather permitting, on the lovely outdoor terrace, with attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly service staff. The wine list is extensive, with a strong emphasis on Piedmontese wines, and reasonable markups. The food is perfect: all homemade pasta, locally raised Piedmontese beef. We had the trio of appetizers: carne cruda, perfect homemade Russian salad, and sublime vitello tonnato! It was a little thinly sliced for my taste, and I would have covered it in the excellent tuna sauce! Then, unforgettable agnolotti with roast beef sauce, with perfect pasta and, above all, a filling that wasn't pureed mush but had a good consistency on the palate, and tajarin with Piedmontese ragu, among the best I've ever tasted.
Desserts: crumiri, obviously with cold zabaglione, and a splendid vermouth semifreddo, which was served with a berry sauce, but I would have preferred it with a vermouth foam or sauce. The bill was correct.

This historic restaurant, run by a family of restaurateurs, is tastefully and elegantly furnished, yet still maintains a welcoming and friendly spirit.
The menu features traditional Monferrato and Piedmontese dishes, as well as seasonal specials, and boasts excellent ingredients and expert cooking.
As soon as we were seated, we were treated to a complimentary lard and chestnut entree, and then we ordered, opting for a seasonal menu (not included in the à la carte menu) centered on mushrooms: a truly delicious Grana Padano salad with artichokes; a Fassona steak with artichokes, a true off-menu delight; and a cream of zabaglione with scabs, an excellent dessert.
The dinner was accompanied by water and an excellent red wine, an Az. Gatto Ruchè, a regional guarantee. The three of us spent €171.50 (three appetizers, three main courses, two desserts, and drinks), which I'd say was reasonable for the overall experience.
Excellent location, relaxing atmosphere, top-notch cuisine, friendly and attentive service, undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Casale and the surrounding area.
We'll definitely return and recommend it!

I went back last night for dinner with friends, for the second time. It's always a safe bet: very good food, traditional Piedmontese dishes but also some off-menu items that allow you to vary. Friendly service, the owner is always pleasant. Well-kept and clean place in the center of Casale Monferrato. I recommend it!

Cenare in questo luogo della tradizione è sempre un piacere. Questa volta l’occasione era la chiusura della stagione del bollito (7 tagli con 6 salse) e la famiglia Amarotto al completo non si è fatta scappare l’occasione di ribadire ancora una volta la loro grande fama. Preceduto dalle mitiche acciughe in salsa verde e da uno strepitoso baccalà’, il sontuoso piatto di carne tenerissima l’ha fatta da padrone lasciando l’unico rimpianto per… la stagione finita.
L’ineffabile “capo sala” Rossana, sempre col sorriso contagioso, ci ha offerto un assaggio della loro, straordinaria “panissa” che viene preparata solo su prenotazione. 55€ con dolce, Krumiri, amaro Jefferson ed una piacevolissima Barbera della cantina “Hic et Nunc”. Una cena, come sempre, da ricordare!

Sono rimasta contentissima per l’ospitalità, la cortesia, l’attenzione, la professionalità di chi non solo è “del mestiere” ma ci mette amore ed impegno. Un luogo dove si percepisce la storicità e la passione tramandata di generazioni. Dove la collaborazione di ogni singola persona diventa il connubio perfetto per il gradimento di noi ospiti. In più il locale con quel sapore un po’ “old money style” che io amo lo ho trovato delizioso. La degustazione negli antipasti buonissima (insalata russa, tartare, vitello tonnato) e il bollito? Perfetto. I tagli ben scelti, cottura ottima, sapidità perfetta. I formaggi eccellenti. Il passito eccelso. Ci tornerò? Assolutamente si. Lo consiglierò? Assolutamente si. Un posto dove sono certa di poter portare anche eventuali miei ospiti facendo una meravigliosa figura grazie al lavoro premuroso di tutti loro che ci accolgono.
