Very good food and entertaining service

The food was excellent! The person who ran the place was very attentive and friendly, always willing to help with any questions or concerns. The prices were reasonable for the food and service.

This restaurant has a history of over 200 years (it used to be a bar and later became a restaurant), and even the refrigerator is 87 years old. The restaurant has many antique items. Because they have been in the food business for about 100 years, their menu is very extensive, offering a wide variety of pasta and different meats, all very authentic and reasonably priced, around 20 euros per person. The small restaurant only has 30 seats, but it's very conveniently located within walking distance of both the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. I will definitely come back to this restaurant when I'm in Rome again; it was truly a wonderful experience, and my guests and I were very happy.

The atmosphere is homey and the food is excellent. I came to Rome with some friends and it's the first place where we've eaten really, really well! Top service! Highly recommended.

The first place we visited in Rome. First artichoke ever and... it was a disaster. Cooked okay, tender, but lacked seasoning (we later ate it at other places, so we could compare). The staff seemed extremely dissatisfied with such a small order. The place was pleasant. Maybe other dishes are okay, but we were over-excited about the artichoke.

Osteria al 16 had very good food, truly typical Italian. It didn't feel like you were just one block away from the Colosseum. The food was very tasty and was served quite quickly. The gentleman who served us seemed experienced, but at times he appeared slightly bothered by the presence of children, making remarks about their movements and emphasizing that everything has its own function. He also seemed somewhat surprised that we were foreigners and couldn't quite understand our origin, even though I explained it kindly. Considering his years of experience in service, one might expect a greater sensitivity toward different languages ​​and cultures. At the end, he asked to collect our water glasses so he could run the dishwasher, while a nearby table stayed longer and was not treated in the same way. All of these are part of those “spicy” little details of traveling through the streets of Rome, where every corner carries thousands of years of history. In short: very good, tasty food served quickly, but service that feels more like an agritourism spot in the countryside of Rome than a restaurant in the city center. What a fantastic experience at Ostaria Al 16. From the moment you walk in, you feel that this is not a standard restaurant, but a place with character and soul. The atmosphere is authentic and warm, exactly what you hope for when you want to truly experience Italy. The owner makes this place extra special. He connects genuinely with his guests and ensures that you feel welcome immediately. That personal touch makes all the difference. The food was simply amazing. Every dish tasted pure, fresh, and prepared with love. This is not a place for quick, slick social media content, but for people who truly want to experience and appreciate Italian culture. A small detail: the table was a bit on the low side for my long legs. But honestly, I quickly forgot about that because of how good the food and atmosphere were. If you want to experience Italy as it is meant to be – without the TikTok or Instagram vibe, but pure and authentic – then this is absolutely the place to be.

Had a really good meal. Authentic Italian. Good ingredients and very flavorful. Friendly, hardworking owner. Definitely recommended if you are in the area.
