I was here last Saturday. I wasn't familiar with the place, but it was a pleasant discovery. The owner welcomed us with a smile and, even though we hadn't booked, he let us dine (there were three of us).
For my first course, I had the caserecce with pumpkin, bacon, and parmesan. Spectacular!
For my second course, I had delicious pork ribs with BBQ sauce. I also had dessert: a cinnamon crumble with cream and pears—not bad!
What can I say... I recommend anyone passing through Terni to stop here. Very good dishes at fair prices. I'll be back.

The Osteria della Mal’Ora in Terni is a place with soul – and its very name reveals much about its special character. Inspired by Luigi Volpicelli's novel of the same name, which focuses on the atmosphere of Italy's simple, honest taverns, this restaurant embodies the spirit of those "Mal’Ora": an authentic place where you can escape time for a few hours and experience genuine, unpretentious hospitality.
We would particularly like to highlight the owner, whose personal, warm manner shapes the entire experience. He takes his time, offers passionate recommendations, explains the background of the dishes and wines, and makes you feel not like a guest, but like a friend. This human touch is what makes the Osteria truly special.
As for the cuisine, all that remains to be said is that it is a celebration of Umbrian tradition, given a modern twist, deeply rooted in local ingredients, and prepared with great artisanal care. The homemade pasta dishes, the tenderly prepared meat, and the creative reinterpretations of classic recipes demonstrate the love and skill that goes into every plate. The wine list is also superbly curated – the owner offers expert and insightful recommendations.
Overall, Osteria della Mal’Ora is an exceptional place: inspired by literature, offering culinary excellence, and filled with warmth. A memorable visit that you'll definitely want to recommend.

We ate outside in a really cute little square. The staff was very kind and attentive... the cured meats and cheeses were excellent, but the gricia was unfortunately inedible.

A tiny place (reserve) that was recommended to us by our host. Glad we went. Christian gave us a top notch service and he sure knows his wines. The kitchen team excelled as well, according to our palates. Not quite the typical Ombrian menu but rather a creative twist to it.
