Wonderful spot to sit and have menu del giorno. The spaghetti Ala mare was perfect, with fresh seafood from the market. Second course was seabass with potato crust. Absolutely delicious. Be aware that they charge 10% service fee

I’ve become really strict with rating Italian restaurants after spending weeks here dining in the most out of the way restaurants within cities that i can access. Honestly, i have a very low hope for any restaurant within the main island of Venice, as it is so saturated with subpar low quality food places hoping to get a quick buck from tourists who probably will only dine there once in their life and never return, sustaining on the constant flow of tourists for years. This is the least blatantly tourist trap restaurant I could find, and they had a bunch of empty tables available for walk-in. The prices aren’t that unreasonable for its location (spaghetti alle vongole 17 euros, spritz 6 euros without snacks, ciccheti seafood for 16 euros). Ciccheti platter was honestly decent; baccala mantecato (whipped dried salted cod) was done well and the pieces of crostini were all fresh and crispy. However the one with smoked salmon was extremely acidic, and the one with prawns had mushy prawns that tasted like it has been sitting in the kitchen for hours. The one with anchovies was alright, no complaints for that. However i do not understand why they decide to place a giant piece of rolled up inedible tomato skin in the middle of the plate as “decoration” they could at least put something edible if they want to garnish, haha. Spaghetti alle vongole was very disappointing, it was so dry, somehow the vongole sauce tasted a little bitter, not much taste of white wine or stock, the clams still had SAND in them, and the portion isn’t big. Very disappointing given that it’s the only time in my current 21 days long Italian trip that I eat seafood; should’ve gone to Ravenna instead to have it perhaps, because when I had seafood at Padova it was so much better than this. Aperol spritz was alright you can’t really mess that up, at least it came with a piece of olive that was decent. Overall I don’t think I can recommend any restaurant in Venice honestly, but since you’re in the city and have no choice but to grab lunch somewhere this place is alright as long as you avoid the spaghetti alle vongole.
