We have stayed here twice and it is one of my favorite hotels in the world. Excellent staff and service, love the breakfast buffet and the newly remodeled rooftop restaurant is a must. A special hotel and staff for sure plus the location is close to everything.

We stayed for three nights in early January, and this was our third stay. The Westin Excelsior is our go-to hotel whenever we visit Rome. They treat Bonvoy members exceptionally well, and it always makes our stay in Rome special. We were very happy to see many of the same staff in the breakfast room as last year. The lobby staff were very kind and greeted us warmly every time we entered or left the hotel, always with a smile. In the breakfast room, all the staff worked hard and were attentive and friendly. I felt that the service was even better than last year, which made our stay in Rome especially enjoyable. We travel at least three times a year and have stayed at many high-end hotel brands such as St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, Banyan Tree, and Fairmont. This year, the service at The Westin was surprisingly on par with those luxury hotels. The staff all seemed genuinely happy and did their best to provide excellent service. We feel the general manager runs the hotel very well. Housekeeping and turndown service were also outstanding. Overall, we had another wonderful stay in Rome with exceptional service and will definitely return again.

The hotel was nice, but unfortunately the staff, especially the front desk, were very unfriendly, if not completely unfriendly. They all looked like they were in a bad mood or didn't want to work; that was the only unpleasant thing about my stay.

Updated Review Calling this a 5-star hotel is misleading at best. The property showed clear signs of wear—worn carpets, outdated rooms, and inconsistent maintenance that fell short of expectations. A broken shower head was reported multiple times over two days with no resolution. When it was finally replaced on day three, the broken fixture was left in the sink, which felt unprofessional. On day four, I had requested an 8:00 a.m. taxi to the airport at the standard €55 rate. Instead, a private car arrived at €65 without prior notice or consent. That said, after posting my initial review, I was contacted directly by Marc Lannoy, the General Manager. He acknowledged the issues and service failures, taking responsibility for what went wrong. He followed through to correct the mistakes and rectify the situation, which I genuinely appreciate. While the stay itself had notable shortcomings, the manager’s personal outreach and effort to resolve the problems showed professionalism and accountability. Because of that, I’m updating my review to 4 stars to reflect the positive way the situation was ultimately handled.

16/09/2025: We were here early in the morning, when there was practically no one on the street. We took the usual set - coffee and croissant. The service is excellent, the taste is wonderful, and what really surprised us was the price, this is one of the cheapest cafe bars in Gallarat.

23/11/2025: We'd been away for a while, but we were delighted to return with dear friends who regularly frequent this restaurant, famous for its seafood. What can I say? Everything was excellent. The raw fish was a delight, and all the raw and cooked appetizers were truly excellent and beautifully presented. The appetizer portions were so generous that we only managed to order the first course, an excellent spaghetti with clams for everyone. The wine list was also remarkable, and desserts were unforgettable. We'll be back.
