I stayed at the Westin for four nights, and everything was more than perfect from start to finish.
I had notified reception in advance to get a room with a beautiful view because I was planning to propose there. I was honored to have a large balcony, as well as a bottle of champagne and a cake as a gift; it was simply fantastic.
The breakfast was sublime; the taste, presentation, and quality of the food were beyond expectations.
The pool and spa are of high quality and allowed my muscles to relax a little after visiting all of Rome.
The hotel is perfectly located for everything on foot, less than an hour from the Vatican and thirty minutes from the Colosseum. I will choose it again for my next vacation.
Finally, I would like to highlight the quality of the facilities and amenities (the television is a bit dated, but hey, we're not in Rome to lounge in front of the TV).
A huge thank you to Rachele who helped us a lot and was really lovely from start to finish, she gave us really good advice.

We’ve used pur Marriot points to stay in this hotel, so the room had a nice view, but windows were small and there was no balcony (even french style). I believe more expencive ones do have it (our room rate was ~500€ /night). Nethertheless hotel is wonderfully furnished, has a Spa and gym, bar, consierge, anything you need - from hygiene to special requests - you will get here. And my biggest compliments and gratitude goes to staff - unbelievable service, kindness and honest care is 100% guaranteed!

I've had a solid experience coming here but it was not perfect as I would expect from it. Still, one of the best places I've been to.
Rooms are simply beautiful, decorated with paintings and antique furniture. Marble in the bathrooms! The issue was the airconditioning with was unbelievably loud and couldn't be turned off.
Breakfast were very good, well-stocked continental style.
However, checkin and invoicing could be somoother - took a long time and I had to follow-up several times to get the invoice. The intervention from the manager/owner who I emailed solved the issue immediately.

Endlessly long lines at the reception desk. That's unacceptable.

A very nice hotel in a beautiful historic building, with elegant rooms and excellent service. Check-in and check-out were quick and efficient, and our luggage was delivered to the room promptly. The only odd part was that, despite having been granted a late check-out, we were interrupted three or four times near the end of our stay by staff knocking to ask if we were leaving that day.

Although our stay was only for one night, the atmosphere was wonderful. What really left a lasting impression was the complimentary breakfast that was absolutely amazing and delicious. The coffee was satisfying and the omelet was mouth watering good.

As a mom of four on a working trip to Rome—with my husband busy in meetings and events—I didn’t expect much time to actually relax. But the Westin Excelsior Rome surprised me in the best way possible. It offered not just a place to stay, but a peaceful, luxurious refuge in the middle of a very full schedule.
The room was incredibly spacious, which felt like a gift from the Roman gods after traveling with four kids. It was recently updated, with elegant touches and modern amenities that made it feel fresh, sophisticated, and completely comfortable. There was plenty of room to spread out, stash our things, and not trip over suitcases (or each other) constantly.
The bathroom deserves its own spotlight. Think spa-like oasis. The steam shower with double showerheads (plus water jets coming out of the sides!) was a full-body experience—exactly what I needed at the end of a long, on-your-feet kind of day. I may or may not have hidden in there longer than necessary for “me time.” No regrets.
Also worth praising: the massive closet. As a mom managing a variety of wardrobe needs (casual, business, kid chaos-ready), the extra space was a dream. Everything had a place, and nothing had to stay in the suitcase. Glorious.
The turndown service was such a thoughtful touch—quiet, discreet, and consistently done with care. Coming back to the room each evening to find things fluffed, tidied, and gently lit felt like luxury on autopilot.
Every interaction with the hotel staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful. From front desk to housekeeping, everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable—never once feeling rushed or overlooked, even with four kids in tow.
Though much of our time was spent attending business events, I was genuinely impressed by the meals served in the conference spaces. The food was consistently delicious, beautifully presented, and felt like a true taste of Italian hospitality, even in a professional setting.
Final thoughts: The Westin Excelsior isn’t just about stunning architecture or five-star status—it’s about thoughtful service, generous space, and that rare feeling of being cared for when you’re juggling a lot. For this mom of four, it was a five-star exhale in the heart of Rome.

Hotel is situated north of central Rome, and within moderate walking distance to the Trevi fountain area. Rooms were comfortable. The attached restaurant and bar were great, a bit expensive. Front desk and concierge were helpful and very friendly. The pool is inside and provides a dry sauna and steam room, which were great. Hotel is big with many conference rooms. Parking looked cramped when we were dropped off. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
