The place is dated and uninviting, but don't be fooled by the appearance. The food is excellent and the portions are generous. Being Indian cuisine, spices are abundant. Special mention goes to the various types of bread and the fried appetizers. Booking online also offers a nice discount at checkout. Since it's not very large, reservations are recommended.

A small, quiet place, decorated in Indian style and featuring Indian music. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was generous and truly excellent, and they fill up quickly. Takeout is also available. I highly recommend them.

Taj Mahal Take Away and Fast Food

16/12/2025: I've been going to India for almost 30 years, so I know its cuisine well, which I love. This tiny restaurant offers the best and most authentic Indian food in Bologna, with very fair prices and generous portions. Truly exceptional.
28/11/2025: Writing as an Indian: it's a takeaway place where you can find satisfying North Indian food (much better than some restaurants in the area). Obviously, the taste is adequate for an Italian-European clientele, but the food here is good. I would also recommend trying the kebab and lentil and meat dishes, especially the palak chicken (chicken in a spinach base with typical North Indian spices).

06/01/2026: Nice restaurant, very good and well-made food. Friendly staff and fairly fast service. The "all you can eat" option is also interesting.
27/12/2025: A decent Indian restaurant, fairly in line with Bologna's moderately high average for this type of cuisine. They also offer an all-you-can-eat option, which is almost certainly better than the à la carte option. Service is quick (except for the first course) and served with kindness, although one of the waiters didn't speak a word of Italian. The menu is rather limited. Overall, it's decent, and it's possible, as I've been told, that it's the best Indian restaurant in Bologna, but it's certainly not a national favorite, as their marketing suggests.
