Very kind and helpful staff, snacks, sandwiches and croissants of the highest quality both for breakfast and for snacks, lunch and dinner. Comfortable and jovial environment, very pleasant to be with a group of friends for a drink or as a meeting point for work. Very well equipped and organized outdoor garden, fresh and welcoming.

A characteristic bar-restaurant in the setting of the Pigneto district, an area that resembles a small town inside a big city, famous Pasolini films were filmed in the area. A place worth trying, desserts made by them and delicious croissants.

IL PASOLINIANO BAR NECCI in via Fanfulla da Lodi 68.
From the times of 'Accattone', Pasolini's film, a couple of trees remain in the bar courtyard, the external railing, the perimeter and roughly the lower part of the building. What between the '50s and '60s was a suburban bar, among often miserable hovels and shacks, today is a 'radical chic' place like many others in Pigneto, which however also expresses its cultural vocation in social centers or aggregations of this type. Some bar scenes were also filmed at number 50 which was not a bar but a residential house, like today. Dignified yesterday and dignified today, with the redone facade, which shows a bit of popular veracity from a time when there was no concern for 'normalisation' or 'political correctness', it says 'sooner or later I'll catch you letting the dog piss on the door, and when I find you you'll pay for all the other times'. In any case, Pasolini's Rome cannot be visited except with the senses that seek and find an elsewhere that is no longer established. The very concept of suburbia, as I modestly discussed in one of my successful novels, 'Benzine', does not have a geographical location, understood as distance from the centre, but has become a more abstract, above all existential concept. It has always been so in part, but once living in Pigneto already meant being born in a context of significant conditioning, then economic and social growth changed the cards on the table. At Mandrione there were small families who lived under the arches of the aqueduct, and even today you can still see the signs of old, tattered beams or traces of paint. In fact, over time, the vast slums have disappeared, and with the implosion of today's society, poverty cannot be shouted out. There are still small shantytowns, but the last large one to have been cleared out is that of Ponte Mammolo. I remember that it was also inhabited by people with regular jobs and salaries, they had just always been used to it, they were happy, they also saved money, and they didn't want to leave the hovel. A significant shantytown is still that of Tor Sapienza, where over the years Roma from Eastern Europe who were expelled from various countries, including those of the Western European bloc, generally from Germany, have found hospitality. The house of the Accattone in the film is in via Giovenale 101, and it is a beautiful house. The interesting aspect of neighborhoods such as Pigneto and Quadraro is that the fragmentation into makeshift homes has provided the layout and consequently the height of private homes, already providing limits for making small two or at most three-storey homes, well built, with wooden frames. For this perception the neighborhood offers the sensations of times gone by. It has sublimated itself without distorting much of its urban essence. Everyone made their home as they saw fit, embellishing it, which made the neighborhood homogeneous in its diversity. Today a small apartment of fifty square meters can cost one hundred and fifty or two hundred thousand euros. Pasolini no longer comes here.

Volveremos pronto.
