We stumbled upon this restaurant in the historic center of Matera by chance, and I must say we were lucky after having rejected at least four other restaurants that didn't inspire confidence in our search for local, homemade delicacies.

We don't know his name, but he was Venezuelan and exuded great empathy and professionalism.

A small restaurant located in the heart of the Sassi, offering a wide selection of traditional dishes from Matera and Basilicata.
The food was appreciated and approved by everyone, and the prices were quite reasonable given the location and the menu offerings.
My only complaint was that the atmosphere was a bit gloomy, quiet, and cold, especially on a Saturday night. I think the restaurant deserves more visibility, and a manager who knows how to attract customers.
My compliments to the professionalism of the waiter!

Visit to Matera on September 7, 2025, warm welcome by the owner who speaks good French, excellent meal with a typical Matera sweet while drinking coffee! Very affordable prices! I highly recommend this establishment, being located away from the center.

Great food and perfect location. I ordered the lamb crock pot and it was delicious. The service is a little slower than in other countries like the US but that’s what is to be expected. It’s Italy. Slow, intentional living is their middle name and as an American, I appreciate it.

On my visit to Matera, we decided to have lunch in Nadi, the service at TJ Shy was very attentive, but the food left a lot to be desired, it was cold, without salt and the steak was burnt and raw inside, it could be improved in many ways

We spontaneously stopped by for dinner. The atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately, nothing more. The pasta was very bland. The dish "Tris Nadi" is not recommended at all.

The place is incredible, the service is top-notch, and the food is 100% authentic.
The owners and waiters are always attentive, ensuring the quality of service.
It's a shame the restaurant is so hidden away because it's so worth it.
