How was the food? So bad that we went back two days in a row (the second day specifically). We were served excellently, with professionalism, courtesy, and that touch of friendliness that never hurts, in a lovely place, with a gorgeous dining room... so much so that my 4-year-old son Leo wanted to come back.
The quality of the food... I hope calling it excellent isn't an understatement... the platter, mentioned by someone who can't remember the name, considered insufficient, was of excellent quality with genuine, traditional products at a fair price... not to mention the rest: pasta alla Norcina, eggplant parmigiana, gnocchi with wild boar, grandma's egg, and the tagliatelle with both ragù and mushrooms, which my son devoured. Not to mention the desserts... so if you have the courage not to call this a super excellent restaurant... I would recommend... McD.

The typical dishes are all delicious, with just the right portions (not too much, not too little), and the atmosphere is rustic, romantic, and even intimate/cozy, and I'd say comfortable. Quick and friendly service, family-run, with not a single detail out of place, and attention to customer service, empathy, and a willingness to engage in conversation. The price is more than fair—in fact, I'd say convenient. I'm attaching the receipt so it's clear that this isn't just my perception, but the reality of the facts. The platter I've pictured was full of typical, strictly local products, carefully arranged, beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. We'll definitely be back, and I recommend booking because there are only a few seats (about 40, I'd say). Note for those with pets: I've noticed that dogs are welcome. Be careful, don't be put off by the negative reviews; they're all from years ago and certainly refer to previous management, given that the current one has been open for less than two years.

The reviews and menu descriptions don't lie. The food is really good, reasonably priced, the atmosphere is simple and traditional, and the service is truly friendly and helpful.

A very charming and characteristic restaurant just steps from the Sanctuary.
The new management is under the guidance of a Sicilian owner, who is very courteous and helpful. Despite the restaurant being fully booked, he treated everyone with great kindness and consideration.
We had an appetizer, which I recommend, and a first course with truffles.
Everything was delicious.
Thank you for your hospitality.

After a long stroll through the beautiful streets of Assisi, we were looking for a traditional place for lunch. I'd already spotted this osteria on the way there, reading the menu outside. So, on the way back, I went straight for it, and it was a perfect choice. The welcome was warm and we ate wonderfully. I had excellent wild boar, expertly prepared by our expert hands. My daughter had meatballs with polenta, which was also excellent. My wife had pasta alla norcina with sausage and truffle, delicious. The desserts were excellent, especially the tiramisu and panna cotta. The price was very fair, and I highly recommend it.

Courtesy and good food—what more could you ask for?
We stopped by on December 31st for lunch, probably taking the last available table.
We had tagliatelle with wild boar ragù and grilled chicken breast. Simple dishes (after the Christmas binge) but well-made and tasty, with portions that, alas, were generous (for an extra €2, you can easily overdo it).
The prices were average for Assisi's historic center.
The owner was very friendly.

The ravioli with pistachio cream were fantastic, and what can I say about the tagliatelle with ragù 🔝. The service was fast and friendly. 😍😋

We were fortunate to be able to find a table thanks to some people who had cancelled, and it was a huge stroke of luck. As soon as we entered, we were warmly welcomed. We sat down, and once we'd ordered, the appetizers arrived surprisingly quickly and the portions were generous... not to mention the quality of the cured meats and cheeses. The surprise, however, came later. We had ordered a main course, grilled chicken, and two first courses, strangozzi with saffron and porcini mushrooms and strangozzi alla norcina, which were one of the best truffle pasta dishes I've ever eaten: the truffle aroma and flavor were fantastic... and they didn't overpower the sausage at all, which was also outstanding. Once again, the portions were super generous. We finished with dessert, and here too, I have to make a point: their crema al postacchio is out of this world. I'll end by saying that we'll gladly return on our next trip to Assisi and highly recommend eating there. Perhaps with a little more ventilation, it would be perfect, but nothing major. Particular and great credit goes to the waiter/cashier who manages to handle busy evenings like today's while maintaining professionalism and a smile.
