I stayed at this new 4-star resort near the sea. Overall, the experience was pleasant, thanks in large part to the staff and the property's location. The resort is just steps from the beach, well-equipped with loungers, a kiosk, and all the necessary amenities, making the most of the beautiful Sicilian coast. There's also access to the pool, a lovely place to relax during the day.
The property is modern and newly designed, although some areas were still under construction. The rooms are well-appointed and equipped with all amenities, but I found some areas that could be improved in terms of cleanliness and maintenance: for example, I found slippers under the bed, presumably left by previous guests, and after tidying up the room, a French door handle was broken without us being notified.
The spa, while available, is rather small and needs modernization and some improvements. The massages, performed by external but truly competent and professional staff, were very pleasant: special thanks to Roberta and Gianni, both very kind and knowledgeable.
The resort's true strength is undoubtedly its staff: all local, young, friendly, and always available. Special praise goes to Serena at reception and the manager, who, faced with a mixup with our reservation, handled the situation with great professionalism, helpfulness, and intelligence, even offering us freebies and discounts as a gesture of customer care. This is truly rare and much appreciated.
The lounge bar is also very pleasant: as soon as we arrived, we found a DJ spinning a vinyl mix of '90s and 2000s music. As a former DJ, I particularly appreciated the music selection and the quality of the performance.
The cuisine uses high-quality ingredients, and the dining room and kitchen staff are knowledgeable and helpful, but the culinary approach doesn't always reflect what one would expect from a 4-star resort. Everything is served buffet-style, with dishes alternating between good ideas and less convincing choices.
Among the best dishes, I'd highlight:
The ricotta ravioli alla Norma, truly delicious;
Well-prepared pork loin roll;
a well-made Sicilian cassata.
Less convincing, however, were:
busiate pasta with Trapani pesto;
mezze maniche with veal ragù, peppers, and gorgonzola;
mahi mahi fillet with cherry tomatoes and capers, which I personally wouldn't have served that way and which I find unsuitable for all palates.
I also found the presence of bean and lentil soups during summer dinners at a seaside resort inconsistent with the menu context. In a Sicilian seaside resort, I would expect a broader, simpler, and more accessible seafood selection.
The breakfast, also a buffet, was decent but rather repetitive throughout the day.
The price is in line with other similar establishments in the area, but there are still some areas that could be improved to fully reach the level of a true 4-star hotel, such as greater attention to detail, a more comprehensive spa, and a more regional and seafood-focused dining experience. Even the minibar, especially in the summer, should be stocked more carefully, at least with water.
Overall, however, the resort has excellent potential thanks to its location, modern structure, and especially the staff, who truly add value to the experience.
My final rating is 3 stars, primarily due to the quality of the staff, the setting, and the facility's potential.
