The restaurant is newly renovated and fairly clean. Service is slow, and the kitchen staff, who are in full view, play and joke with each other, slowing down preparation and serving.

Finally a nice renovation, now it deserves 5 stars for cleanliness but 4 stars for service which honestly was very slow compared to other MC considering that there was almost nobody there

I happened upon it last night by chance with my fast and convenient takeout bag. I had some initial confusion about the initial menu, which I thought should have specified what kind of McNuggets were served, but the cashier easily resolved the issue. After a 5-minute wait, the food was hot and ready to go in no time.

MAIO Restaurant & Rooftop Roma

31/12/2025: Excellent atmosphere and location. The biggest let down was the menu at the restaurant - the complimentary bread arrived cold as if it was stored in the fridge, we ordered the cacio e pepe and ravioli, the latter was disappointingly bland with only the pasta and vegetables having the most flavour.
29/12/2025: Located on top of the Rinascente department store, this is the go-to place for gorgeous views of the city. There is a queue to get a table on the rooftop but to get a place on the bar side is quite easy. Getting attention from the waiters was super hard - I had to approach the table and they stopped talking to serve. The drinks were pretty good though. Good place to rest after a long shopping day - but would I go there on purpose? I think there are better places.
