Margi Bar In Tirano

Very nice spot few steps between Tirano train station and Bernina train station with excellent service. Had a tasty piadina, the coffee and tiramisu were so yummy. The cherry on the cake is Anna Maria who’s very friendly and professional 🤍

I used this restaurant when transferring from the Bernina Railway to the Tretania (Italian train). It was conveniently located between transfer stations. I didn't have much time before my flight, so I asked if takeout was available and they said yes. I bought a salad, panini, and toast. It was a bit pricey, but since I'd spent the previous two days in Zurich and St. Moritz, it didn't bother me. The panini and toast are freshly made to order. I added my own dressing to the salad and took it home. They even provided napkins and forks. Thank you for the meal.

The waitresses were very friendly and served me super fast!

♥️ The tomato pasta was delicious for 10 euros. 👌 The ice cream was delicious, a set for 7.50 euros. I recommend going to Gelateria Lollipop across the street. One scoop is 3 yuan, two scoops are 3.5 yuan, and three scoops are 4 yuan. It's a great value with a variety of flavors. 🎈 The tomato-flavored cheese bread was 4.5 yuan, but it was very salty and the bread was soft and not springy. It was mostly airy. 🎈 The Coke was 3.50 euros. The restroom attendants were friendly, and one spoke Chinese. But the bill had an extra 2 euros. I don't know if it was the bread that was bad; it was very dry and hard, and the inside of the bread could have been crushed into powder. This quality shouldn't be sold.

We stopped at this bar for a snack on the way back from a trip on the Red Train (destination: Cavaglia, to visit the Glacier Garden). Since it's right across from the Rhaetian Railway station in Tirano, we popped in. The place was tidy and clean. Since it was already 4:30 PM, they didn't have many items left (obviously). We opted for two cappuccinos, a brioche with cream, and a slice of strudel. The staff was very friendly. The cappuccinos were quite good (perhaps not as creamy as they should be, but that might be due to the milk used); the brioche with cream: good filling, a bit too "bready"; the slice of strudel: very good. The prices seemed fairly reasonable; the strudel was perhaps a bit expensive (€3.50). However, for being in the center of Tirano and just a stone's throw from Switzerland, it's fair enough.

I wanted to eat authentic Italian gelato in Italy, so I went out to eat. The taste was just like the Italian gelato I have in Japan.

Excellent place to wait for the Bernina train. We ordered toast and a sandwich to take to the train, and they were served hot and prompt so we arrived on time. The latte macchiato was delicious, and not to mention the apple strudel, exquisite, even more so in this alpine setting. I also highlight the attentive staff, especially the waiter, who served us with kindness and promptness and allowed us to charge our cell phones. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't right. Hugo is €7 for an apple, a Spritz is €6, and it doesn't taste as good as the Bürgerbier, and you can't even tell that it contains alcohol. The food...okay.

Wir reisten mit der Bernina-Bahn nach Tirano und dann wieder zurück Richtung Engadin. Den kurzen Aufenthalt überbrückten wir mit Kaffee umd Glacé auf der Terrasse der Margi Bar.
