In the picturesque setting of Montescaglioso, the Gallitelli butcher shop stands out for its vast selection of meats, especially its horsemeat. The carefully prepared meats, both for takeout and for dining in, are grilled and top-quality. The spacious interior and outdoor space accommodate large banquets. Highly recommended.

Passing through Montescaglioso with friends, we stopped for dinner at this beautiful butcher's shop, which transforms into a grill in the evening. We sampled scottona beef, horse meat, and bombette (bombette) both regular and spicy, as well as Mexican. Homemade fries and a mouth-watering carpaccio with arugula, parmesan, and lemon. All washed down with beer and excellent local red wine. Everything was truly delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and attentive to their customers' needs. We'll definitely be back.

If you're passing through Montescaglioso and love good meat, Macelleria Rosticceria Gallitelli is a must-see! The place is easy to find, and as soon as you walk in the door, you're greeted by Rocco, the owner. From the butcher's counter, stocked with select cuts of horse and veal, you can choose whatever piques your appetite. Behind the scenes, they immediately begin cooking with care and attention, transforming the raw meat into irresistible dishes in just a few minutes. The meat is of the highest quality; I chose a horse ribeye (superb flavor, in my opinion), a heifer steak hand-sliced in front of me, horse roulades ("braciole" as they say in Puglia 😁), and tender and flavorful veal bombette. The horse carpaccio is also highly recommended, highly appreciated by other diners. (Photos of the ribeye and heifer are attached.) The quality is unquestionable! The atmosphere is simple and authentic, and the service is fast. This is also evident in the fact that the restaurant is frequented by a large and loyal clientele—a sign that goodness is a must. My experience was fantastic, so much so that I've already decided to return soon. A tip? Make a reservation, so you'll be sure to find a place to enjoy all the goodness Gallitelli has to offer.
