L'osteria del Borgo Antico In Bari

My family and I ate very well in this splendid osteria. The place is small but welcoming, the service fast and friendly, the food excellent! We tried various traditional Apulian dishes, among which I highly recommend the orecchiette with turnip greens and rice, potatoes and mussels... fantastic! When we return to Bari we will already know where to go to eat!

I had the Spiedino di bombete de maiale, and it was packed with flavour. The potatoes were on point, and so were the mushrooms. Service was impeccable, and Massimo was truly welcoming and always with a smile.

I gave a low rating to the environment because we were close to the door that opened and closed, we often had to move to let people pass and above all it was very cold with the door opening, which we often had to close ourselves, so the place it was not well heated. The service was good, everyone was friendly. As for the food, the starters were very good (we took the mix and the cheese), the taralli with burnt wheat were really fragrant and fresh. Alas, the tiella (the one in the photo, potatoes, rice and mussels), a typical Bari dish and the reason why we came to this restaurant full of expectations, was not good. There was a quantity of onions that was far greater than the quantity of all the other ingredients, the mussels were tasteless and I do not exclude that they may have been frozen, in some dishes the potatoes were raw. I gave it 3 stars because the starters were good, but it's not a place I would return to.

Eten was lekker, bediening vooral van een meneer slecht. Er kon geen glimlach vanaf, tijdens ons verblijf daar hebben we hem niet zien lachen.
