Locanda Leon D'oro In Zibello

We stopped by Leon D'oro, by happenstance, just to have a quick lunch. We had heard about the famous porduct of Zibello: Culatello , but had not tried it yet. We asked them what they recommended (using Google Translate ) and they casually suggested we try the Culatello sandwich. That simple sandwich turned out to be one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten in a life time of travel and dining. To this day I regret the fact that I only ate three sandwiches ! and not five or six while I was there. The atmosphere is that of an unpretentious, pleasant eatery. It sits on a corner of a square that looks like it was taken out of an old Italian movie about a small town. Pleasant and kind staff who are quietly proud of their food. But none of that matters... You go there to eat the greatest thing ever made from a pig.... THE CULATELLO.

Recommended by a dear friend who recently had lunch there with his family, I decided to make a detour on my trip to try this trattoria. It's a place from another era, in the best sense of the word, located under the arcades of the town square with plenty of parking. The friendly and helpful staff explains the dishes with precision and passion, offering a rare taste at a very reasonable price. I chose one of the tasting menus, which included an entree, first course, second course, dessert, and wine. €33!!! A special mention for the tortelli with parmesan fondue and truffle shavings. A truly satisfying experience. I'll be back.

A sure thing for exceptional culatello and anolini

First of all, a beautiful location, outdoors, under a long portico. Varied offerings, but only of decent quality. Prices, given the overall impression, aren't exactly modest. A little more friendliness, perhaps a smile, from the owners and servers certainly wouldn't hurt. When you pay, it's nice if they look you in the eye, and it's a luxury if they say hello. Well... the point is that it's not the manager (or whoever) doing customers a favor, but rather the exact opposite... given that without the second course, the first course struggles in the long run.

To be tried more than once to savour all the specialities

This osteria is always a great place to be. The place is pleasant and authentic. The food reflects the rich Parma tradition. The culatello and herb tortelli are unmissable. The selection of homemade fiordilate gelato with various liqueurs is delightful. The prices are absolutely reasonable. Worth trying again and again.

Excellent cuisine, very friendly staff, pleasant location and I recommend a stop, super culatello as well as the first courses, good cellar and desserts in abundance and very good 🤗🤗🤗

Questa é la seconda volta che veniamo a mangiare al Leon d’oro ed é sempre una garanzia. É situato nella piazza di Zibello (famoso ovviamente per il culatello), ha un’ampia volta esterna sotto la quale vi sono i coperti esterni e poi internamente vi sono altre 2 ampie sale. Abbiamo preso degli antipasti tipici, salumi e verdure sottaceto. Noi eravamo in 6 e due taglieri di salumi sono ampiamente bastati ( contate che mezzo tagliere é solo di culatello servito rigorosamente con il burro di accompagnamento). I primi sono strepitosi, ne abbiamo presi 5 su 6 differenti e sono stati tutti eccellenti, si sente che le cose fatte a mano in casa hanno una marcia in più. Abbiamo continuato con un dolce, anch’essi tutti fatti da loro. E per concludere (e vi invito calorosamente a provarli) abbiamo preso la frutta sotto alcool, una roba sensazionale, davvero!!! Noi abbiamo preso albicocche e lamponi. Attenzione perché sono abbastanza alcoliche, poi acqua, caffè, grappa e non dimentichiamoci due bottiglie di Lambrusco bello fresco. Il tutto a soli 50€ a persona. Da provare e vorrei sottolineare ancora la qualità dei prodotti offerti! Grazie
