I always enjoy eating here: it's one of those places that never disappoints.
The appetizer of traditional cured meats, with bortelline, pickled vegetables, and savory pies, is so generous that sometimes you wonder if it makes sense to order a first course as well (but trust me, it's worth it).
The first courses are always seasonal, and this really adds value: each time there's a different little surprise, and the quality is evident.
For the second courses, seasonality is also the rule: I highly recommend the fried mushrooms when it's in season.
Come with an empty stomach, because the portions are impressive. Anyone who says "you don't eat enough in a trattoria" has probably never been here.
Excellent for a family dinner or to bring friends from out of town and show them what typical Piacenza cuisine really means.

Historic hotel restaurant in Castione on the hills above Ponte dell'Olio. Excellent quality, impeccable service, fair price. I recommend it.

The inn is very traditional, with a classic trattoria atmosphere.
The staff is truly helpful, fast, and very kind! Kudos to you for that.
The place is spacious and the tables are well-spaced. It's a shame about the air conditioning, which is very old and doesn't provide much cooling.
Regarding the food, I think we had very high expectations, given the place's reputation, but we were a little disappointed.
The appetizers of cured meats, potato cake, and focaccia were very good.
Tortelli con la coda: the pasta was a bit thin and overcooked, and the filling was a cream that had nothing to do with the traditional ricotta and spinach. It had virtually no butter.
Panzerotti: these aren't traditional panzerotti; they're made with regular pasta, not the frittatas typical of the traditional recipe. The filling is always tortelli cream, so not exactly the traditional filling. Covered in béchamel sauce.
The kids said the Pisarei, fasò, and swamp nests were good, but that's about it... 😉
Angus steak: the meat would have been good, but we asked for it rare, "almost alive," and it arrived more medium rare, I'd say. The sautéed zucchini were good, but the baked potatoes were a bit raw.
A wide selection of wines, however.
In conclusion, I expected more from an inn so famous for its traditional Piacenza cuisine, certainly more faithfulness to the recipes.

Exceptional! For a few years now, my partner and I have been staying here for a short week every summer. We receive a very warm welcome; the owners and staff are lovely and always take great care of us. The cuisine is extremely generous, with exceptional products! The rooms are also very nice; we love coming here. We are always very well received, treated, and eat extremely well. I recommend this place 1000% without hesitation! Not to mention that the half-board rates with breakfast and dinner are ridiculously low in terms of quality 👍

Sono stato a pranzo con mia moglie ed una parente. Locanda storica situata sulle colline della splendida Val Nure.Ovviamente abbiamo iniziato il pranzo deliziandoci con il misto di salumi.Coppa,pancetta,prosciutto crudo e tre tipi di salame con impasto a grana piccola ed a grana grande ed una stagionatura perfetta ( salame inarrivabile). Insieme frittatine, giardiniera, funghetti…..Abbiamo poi proseguito con panzerotti (perfetti) e delicatissimi nidi di rondine. A questo punto abbiamo dovuto fermarci e chiudere con tre caffè che erano accompagnati da biscottini e “sbrisolona” appena sfornati.Massimo del punteggio per questa storica Locanda e lode per il servizio in sala di quello che è il cugino del proprietario che con la sua professionalità accompagnata da discrezione e gentilezza vi farà sembrare il cibo ancor più gustoso …se mai sarà possibile
