Locanda degli sfizi In Cravanzana

We spent a gastronomic weekend in the Langhe. We chose the Locanda for our overnight stay. A historic building, beautifully maintained and superbly managed by Franca, who is extremely kind and attentive. We also had dinner at the Locanda one evening, and we must say that the cuisine lived up to its reputation. A wonderful experience.

The Locanda degli Sfizi offers unexpected delights that will delight both relaxation and the palate. Located in an easily accessible location, we arrived here by motorbike: the lady immediately welcomed us and fulfilled our requests. Despite the season, given the low temperatures, she ensured we found warm rooms with every comfort. For dinner, we ate in the restaurant downstairs: excellent, carefully prepared, well-explained dishes, and excellent wines. We chose the classic menu, which she kindly adapted with porcini mushrooms: veal with tuna sauce and beef carpaccio accompanied by an excellent Russian salad, ravioli del plin with ragù, meatballs with tomato sauce, and a hazelnut cake that was out of this world. The price was very fair for the season and the services. We knew our breakfast would consist only of brioche and cappuccino; she had given us advance notice due to a private event, but nevertheless, it met our expectations. The rooms have a whirlpool and overlook peaceful and tranquil views. The only downside: the bells ringing. I had a hard time falling asleep at first. Recommended for everything, but especially for the excellent food and value.

I've only recently moved to Cravanzana. My friends come to visit me often. We eat at a different restaurant each time. On Sunday the 24th, Serena and Evasio went to "Locanda degli Sfizi." We were greeted warmly, even though we arrived late, because the Milanese were lost among these wonderful Alta Langa hills. We opted for the set menu: three appetizers, Alba-style raw meat, veal with tuna sauce, and a pickled vegetable salad with porcini mushrooms. For the first course, tagliatelle (taiarin) with lamb sauce, and the second course, meatballs in tomato sauce with garden zucchini. Despite the lavish lunch, we couldn't resist the dessert trolley: three panna cottas with raisins and grappa, coffee, and house liqueur. Impeccable service from a very kind waitress. Serena and Evasio told me they'll be back, not so much for the friendship but to eat at "Locanda degli Sfizi" again.
