The food was very tasty, the service was friendly, but the pricing was unclear. We had two pasta dishes that were very tasty. We wanted to share a liter of beer between the two of us, but that wasn't possible because you could only order one liter – we found that a bit odd. For dessert, we ordered an espresso (€3) and an affogato (espresso with a scoop of vanilla ice cream). This unspectacular dessert was then priced at a hefty €12… In our opinion, this was unjustified; perhaps we were at fault for not listing this dessert on the menu. The Chianti tasted good, but it was kept a bit too warm for our taste. In short: You can eat here without worry.

I’ve been a regular for years, and have never been disappointed. The best lasagna, and the best mussels and clams, in the city. Plus, excellent pizza and steak. These are folks who know good food and wine, and want you to have a wonderful meal. I’ve recommended them to dozens of visitors, and never received anything but exceptional feedback. We’ve joined them for New Year’s Eve, other holidays, and lunch at least once per week, and I return for the same reasons: excellent food, careful preparation, and thoughtful service. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful experience at the Lo Scudo restaurant. The waiters were very kind. We asked if they could let us try the tortellone with truffle and sausage, and they made us a mini portion, which I must say was truly delicious. The pappardelle with wild boar and the tagliolini with truffle were exceptional. Beautiful location. The owners Lorenzo and Federico were truly friendly and kind. We will definitely be back.

Un señor mayor se acercó a nosotros mientras pasábamos - estaba disfrutando de una copa de vino rosado - y nos convenció de tomar un descanso. Está en el Duomo y nos sentamos afuera y tomamos dos copas de vino tinto de Montalcino - absolutamente delicioso! Y el pan de focaccia era una bonificación extra.

Después de llegar a Florencia por la tarde sin haber almorzado, buscamos un restaurante que estuviera abierto al final de la tarde. Había leído buenas críticas para Lo Scudo, primero asegurándome de que no había ningún cargo por servicio, ya que Florencia es famosa por pedir propinas o agregar cargos adicionales. Quedamos muy contentos con nuestras comidas (lasaña y espaguetis con almejas) con pan sabroso gratis para empezar y limoncellos de cortesía. El camarero era joven y atento, y hablaba inglés con fluidez. Desafortunadamente, agregó un cargo por servicio, destacándolo en el cheque con un marcador. Cuando le pregunté al respecto, dijo que era “típico” en Florencia y admitió que no está publicado en el menú exterior y dijo que no teníamos que pagarlo. Pero añadí 8€ a la factura, lo que hace que esta sea la comida más cara que tuvimos en nuestras 2 semanas en Umbría, donde los precios son mucho más baratos.

21/07/2025: Lampredotto is an institution in Florence, and every Florentine has their favorite lampredotto maker: Lapo is mine. When I met him, he amazed me by serving me cold Lambruschino with lampredotto, which I later discovered is fantastic in the summer because it "cuts the fat." But lampredotto isn't fatty; it's the leanest meat of the entire animal, and it was the only food I could eat after an operation that kept me on a strict diet for several months. In short: Lapo weaned me on lampredotto! And lampredotto is just the most famous of Lapo's dishes, which he uses all the "poor" cuts, from sinew to breast, to tripe, which he also reworks "on the plate" like inzimino, cacciatora, artichokes, and everything delicious you can imagine with the "fifth quarter." Can you say that? Lapo is a high-end tripe maker who doesn't show off and delivers high quality. I don't want to make comparisons, since every Florentine has their favorite tripe shop...
05/07/2025: A Florentine excellence: excellent cuisine and a wide variety of sauces with lampredotto, stracotto, and tripe. The classic lampredotto and lampredotto meatballs are a must. Trust Lapo and his cuisine to eat lampre properly.

31/07/2025: I'm a regular customer now; Matteo and his family are fantastic. The dishes are a mix of innovation and tradition. The menu changes seasonally, but the fresh pasta, fried lampredotto, and steak are my favorites. Highly recommended!
24/07/2025: A welcoming restaurant with quality products. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with a smile by Gianna, her son Matteo, and his father Domenico. They seated us in the restaurant and explained their specialties. In addition to the uniqueness of the food, we were also impressed by the kindness and humanity of the owners. The food was excellent, with generous portions and fast service. The wishing well inside the restaurant is unique. We highly recommend this restaurant. Luana and Domenico
