We took the Ego menu. Excellent quality of raw materials, excellent plating and imagination. The cod tiramisu is an experience you absolutely have to try. Professional and friendly service. I ask for a glass of full-bodied red wine chosen by the waiter.
I really appreciate that I am first made to taste it, I like it and it is served to me, otherwise he would have suggested another wine.
Initially they bring a tasting of the house that is explained.
Platter of Mantua cold cuts, superlative, accompanied by an exquisite focaccia.
Again a brief explanation of the products offered. I specify that the platter is for two people.
Two meat tartares, red fruit crumble, black truffle and sautéed herbs, a generous portion. The truffle is peeled on the spot in front of the customer.
Torta delle rose with sorbet and Garda lemon zabaglione, this portion is also exhaustive (it is not a small taste)
The wife opts for a bounty.
Coffee at the end.

A place to return to. Surprising dishes, above all the cod tiramisu, flavors that make you experience that happiness also comes through good food. Kindness and care of the staff accompany each course. The thing I liked most of all is the sincerity with which the place presents itself and welcomes. The quality-price ratio is absolutely justified. We had a really good time at Scalco Grasso.

The first time I stop at this restaurant and it certainly won't be the last! The place is not very big so it would be better to book. I found it very welcoming in everything and the attention to the customer is exquisite. The dishes are original and are presented very well, the food is quality with combinations of very particular and pleasant flavors to the palate. The owner and the staff are attentive and very friendly. I couldn't find anything negative. The price was also fair taking an appetizer, a second course, dessert, wine, water and coffee.
To try and we will definitely return!

I highly recommend the "home" tasting menu to try all the flavors that the area has to offer. More than fair value for money. Very kind, friendly and very knowledgeable staff on both food and drinks.

A table of smiles and flavors from Mantua – Lo Scalco Grasso
Once you cross the threshold of Lo Scalco Grasso, you are immediately welcomed by a warm and refined atmosphere, where the sober elegance of the environment marries perfectly with the authentic friendliness of the staff. The owner, present and passionate, transmits love for cooking and attention to each guest, making the experience not only gastronomic, but also human.
The journey into taste begins with small amuse-bouche with refined plating, which gracefully anticipate the richness of the cuisine. The selection of cured meats, served with generously seasoned croutons and sweet and sour vegetables, tells of a generous and tasty land. Every bite is a tribute to the Mantua tradition.
It is impossible not to mention the tortelli, the real protagonists: delicate those with vegetables and cheese, enveloping those with ragù, both perfectly pulled and expertly seasoned. Respect for the raw material is felt in every detail.
The meal ends with desserts that are small works of art: from the caramel flan, intense and velvety, to the spherical dessert with a soft heart, wrapped in a shower of crunchy crumbs and caramel. An end that is a new beginning for the senses.
“Clear dishes, long friendship” says a sign in the room: never was a quote truer. Because at Lo Scalco Grasso you leave not only full, but also a little happier.

Prima volta in questo piccolo ristorante segnalato dalla Guide Michelin e dalla Guida Gambero Rosso, location molto graziosa, informale, moderna, un'osteria contemporanea vicina al centro storico di Mantova.
I piatti della tradizione e quelli delle ricette più ricercate proposti sono squisiti, di qualità e utilizzano ottime materie prime.
Servizio giovane, cordiale e preciso.
Abbiamo assaggiato Luccio in salsa alla moda dello Scalco, Maccheroncini con ragù di stracotto di somaro, Bigoli con le sarde, Guanciale di manzo brasato con polenta, tutto veramente delizioso.
Il ristorante propone piatti con un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo data l'abbondanza delle pietanze.
Un piccolo gioiello, torneremo sicuramente.

Cena del 25 aprile. Accolti dal titolare, Sig. Vanni, in modo caloroso.
Chiedo un calice di vino rosso corposo a scelta del cameriere.
Apprezzo molto che mi viene prima fatto degustare, gradisco e mi viene servito, in caso contrario avrebbe proposto un altro vino.
Inizialmente portano un assaggio della casa che viene illustrato.
Tagliere di salumi mantovani, superlativo, accompagnato da una squisita focaccia.
Anche in questo caso breve spiegazione dei prodotti offerti. Preciso che il tagliere è per due persone.
Due Tartare di carne, crumble ai frutti rossi, tartufo nero e erbette spadellate, porzione ricca. Il tartufo viene sfogliato al momento davanti al cliente.
Torta delle rose con sorbetto e zabaione al limone del Garda, anche questa porzione è esaustiva (non è un assaggino)
La moglie opta per un bounty.
Caffè alla fine.
Siamo stati benissimo, elevata la qualità delle materie prime, le porzioni, scusate se mi ripeto, non sono assaggi.
