What can I say...Always number 1! You can't go wrong...the menu never changes but you always come back! Quality and...quantity! A point of reference for the Zoldo Valley for over 50 years! Highly recommended!

After several years of not being back, I went there on April 25th with friends. The food is very good, and they keep bringing more when they see your plate is empty. Very fast service, even when there are a lot of people. A really nice place.

An excellent experience at Ristorante L’Insonnia,
fully deserving of 5 stars!
The restaurant is simple, but it's exactly what you expect and appreciate in the mountains: simple, authentic, and uncluttered, creating a genuine and welcoming atmosphere.
The food is truly excellent, with flavorful dishes prepared with quality ingredients. The buffet-style service between the tables is also unique and pleasant, making the experience convivial and informal.
The staff is friendly and attentive, helping to make guests feel at ease.
A place I recommend without hesitation to anyone seeking authenticity, good food, and a unique experience. We'll definitely be back!

Fixed menu, meaning you eat what's available.
But everything is good and plentiful.

A historic restaurant serving traditional local cuisine, yet truly original: a €32 fixed menu with polenta, cooked vegetables, beans, salad, grilled meat, stew, cotechino or musetto, grilled cheese, apple pie, coffee, water, and house wine.
Generous portions.
Service is simple and efficient: no one asks you anything, and they start bringing your food right away.
The atmosphere is truly charming and quaint, welcoming, and surrounded by nature.
Highly recommended!

We left Venice with summer still upon us.
Thirty degrees, short sleeves, and that lightness of a long day.
Then, bend after bend, the Zoldo Valley welcomed us with a different air.
Seven, eight degrees.
And we were completely out of season.
We arrived at L'Insonnia hoping to warm up.
Inside and out.
A dinner, something simple.
But when we asked, we were told the kitchen was closed.
Of course, that's fine.
It's not the answer itself that leaves us perplexed.
It's just that we were offered only a beer.
Nothing else.
No alternatives, not even a hint of a cold dish or a platter.
So we sat down, more out of necessity than enthusiasm, and ordered two beers.
And just as we tried to ignore the cold, a platter arrived at the table opposite: cold cuts, cheeses, fragrant bread.
A jarring scene.
Because no one even mentioned that platter to us.
In the end, we ordered it too.
And it must be said: the cured meats and cheeses were of the highest quality.
Without a doubt, the highlight of the experience.
Generous cuts, authentic flavors, and bread that pairs perfectly.
But the disappointment with the way our initial approach was handled deprived us of the desire to continue.
Dinner ended there.
With a platter eaten more out of hunger than pleasure.
The place is truly evocative.
Wood, stone, antiques.
This is my definitive impression. An atmosphere that could make you stay for hours.
But certain small flaws—those that cost nothing but matter everything—make all the difference.
Insomnia could have given us a warm break on a cold mountain evening.
Instead, it left us with the feeling of having passed by.
And not really arrived.

I returned after 20 years, and the food is still good and the menu is exactly the same. The concept is all-you-can-eat, but when you ask for seconds, it takes a long time before they bring it to you. It seems like they do it on purpose to discourage you from asking for more. The price of €32 per person is a bit high for what you get.
